Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics died on March 14 at the age of 67. The announcement was made on their YouTube channel, Jordan Fabrics. On March 18, the brand uploaded a YouTube video called 'Celebration Of Life: Donna Jordan - Drop Diamonds!' in which Donna Jordan was seen explaining the steps to make a drop diamonds design quilt.

At the end of the video, Donna's husband, Matt, appeared in the video announcing the tragic news by saying,

"On March 14th at about 4 am in the morning, Donna passed away. Donna has been battling an illness for a few years now, and for the last three months, it has gotten more acute, and she needed more treatments."

He further explained Donna Jordan's love for quilts by adding,

"When I met Donna, I was 16 years old, and she was 16 years old, and she was already making quilts. And I'm 67 now, so I don't know how long that is; I can't count that high, but she's been making quilts her whole life."

Quilt Community pays tribute to Donna Jordan

A video creator, Kate Jackson, founder of The Last Homely House, shared a heartfelt note for Donna Jordan on March 18 by saying,

"Donna was a wonderful person, so cheerful and happy to be sharing her knowledge with us all. I’m sharing a picture of me sitting at my Juki because she was the reason I got my own industrial machine, watching her zip through fabric making blocks for countless quilts! The quilting community has lost a good friend and my thoughts are with her family and friends just now."

A user, @summerwoodstitches, from the community wrote,

"So very Kate, I loved her tutorials. She was , as you said, always so passionate and enthusiastic. Thoughts are with her family and friends"

Another user, @rosewater_quilting, commented,

"Yes I was shocked and so so saddened by the news when I began my quilting journal her tutorials explained the techniques so simply. Her contributions to the quilting community will live in thru her videos❤️"

Kate's video got attention from her fans and Donna's fans, who are showing their respect for the late quilt lover.

Who will run Jordan Fabrics going forward?

Going forward, Matt and his son, James, will be taking care of the Jordan Fabrics.

Jordan Fabrics was started by Donna and Matt Jordan. As of now, the company has over 17 employees, which includes Matt and Donna's son, James. With over 700k followers on YouTube, the brand does everything from filming to editing the videos in their Grand Pass, Oregon workshop.

Jordan Fabrics' Instagram page, with over 40,000 subscribers, shows a variety of quilt designs and how to make them. The company's website sells a range of fabrics, including Matt's hand cuts, pre-cuts, bundles, patterns, tools, and more.

Donna Jordan shared the reason behind starting the Jordan Fabrics by adding,

"It brings me great joy to take other quilters on these journeys with me. My hope is that by teaching new and simple methods I can help quilters expand their skills to new levels. Perhaps they will try a quilt pattern that before looked too intimidating. My favorite is when quilters send me pictures of their finished work—it is so inspiring!"

Her husband, Matt, also shared his love for cutting patterns by adding,

"Cutting is one of my favorite things to do, probably because I am good at it. It comes naturally to me, and I enjoy the physical nature of it. The math involved is a fun challenge, and seeing the perfect results of careful preparation and all the steps involved is really fun"

Matt Jordan has announced that he will continue at Jordan Fabrics, including uploading videos and bringing content to their social media channels.
