Nike is all set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan 1 sneakers, which was first launched on April 1, 1985, in a black and red colorway designed by Peter Moore. To mark the occasion, Nike is rumored to launch the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Bred” sneakers, expected to be released on February 14.

Along with the sneakers, the brand also plans to launch the Air Jordan Skyline Jacket in a black colorway with a navy-to-orange ombre accent. The back of the jacket features Michael Jordan in a Jumpman pose.

More details on the Air Jordan Skyline Jacket

The Jumpman pose featured on the Air Jordan Skyline Jacket has its roots in 1984. Michael Jordan posed for a Life magazine photoshoot wearing New Balance sneakers. Jordan didn't have any contract with Nike at that time.

After deciding to launch the Jordan brand with Michael Jordan in 1985, Nike wanted a similar image but couldn’t use the original photo legally. Peter Moore, the designer of the Air Jordan 1, decided to recreate it with MJ in Bulls colors, jumping in a ballet-style pose, with the Chicago skyline behind him.
