Zootopia 2: Release date news, cast details and more about Walt Disney's latest entry into the animated comedy franchise

Walt Disney's forthcoming film Zootopia 2 is set to be released on 26th November, 2025.

The upcoming installment is a sequel to the 2016 film, Zootopia. While some old cast members will be reprising their roles, some new voices will join the cast a well. Interestingly, singer Shakira shall be joining the cast of Zootopia 2 as well.

Fans of the first installment have been waiting for the sequel. The wait is about to be over as Disney's Zootopia 2 is set to release on 26th November, 2025.

The last installment of the film was released 9 years ago, in 2016. A TV series named Zootopia+ was also released on Disney+ in 2022.

The two OG cast members of Zootopia shall be coming back to lend their voices for the upcoming film, including Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde.

The new additions to the cast and characters of Zootopia 2 include:

Ke Huy Quan as Gary
Fortune Feimster as Nibbles
Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby
Shakira as Gazelle

As reported by Deadline, Ginnifer Goodwin describes Ke Huy Quan's character, Gary, who is a snake, by saying:

“Now, reptiles have a shady past.”

What could be the plot of the upcoming Walt Disney film Zootopia 2?

The previous installment of the film follows a bunny police officer named Judy Hopps, who is out on cop duty with the crafty fox Nick in the Zootopia city.

No specific plot details of Zootopia 2 have been revealed by the makers yet. But going by the teaser of the film revealed at the D23 event, we have some information based on the sneak peek we have received so far. It looks like this time, the story is set in a wetland, full of water creatures. We already see hippopotamuses and seals in the clip.

We even witness a beaver named Nibbles uttering in the teaser, saying:

"Water folks tend to be a little stand off-ish.."

There is a hilarious scene in the clip when Nibbles and a Walrus engage in a conversation where they speak in a complete gibberish language. In the teaser, Nibbles, Judy, and Nick seem to be looking for the 'snake', which could be Gary.
