The critically acclaimed fan-favorite dystopian sci-fi Silo might just return for Season 3 if the series star and executive producer Rebecca Ferguson is to be believed. In April 2024, the actor talked about "looking at green-lighting Seasons 3 and 4." She also mentioned in the Collider interview that Seasons 3 and 4 might be filmed together.

According to Ferguson, the Apple TV+ show follows the three books with "the three books divided into four seasons." However, there's no official confirmation yet from either the makers or the network yet on Silo Season 3. Nevertheless, the Dune actor has hinted at the likelihood of the show having a definitive ending, most likely with Season 4.

Silo: Behind the Success

Silo is an adaptation of Hugh Howey's Silo trilogy set in a dystopian future where humanity is forced to live underground in a huge silo. It's a post-apocalyptic world and the inhabitants of the Silo are the last remaining humans. The series is divided into three novels - Wool, Shift, and Dust. Ferguson plays the protagonist Juliette who uncovers sinister conspiracies, and mysterious happenings and begins to question the motive of those in charge.

Notably, Silo has turned out to be one of the best sci-fi series on Apple TV+ and has acquired a huge fandom. The series has a high rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and also scored an impressive 8.1/10 on IMDb. Season 1 got viewers hooked on to the show pretty easily with riveting plot lines, suspense arising out of each character, and several plot twists, each revealing something entirely new about the characters.

Another aspect that worked with Silo was its supposed genre fluidity. The storyline and the pace of the series bring almost all of the elements of psychological thriller, police drama, world politics, and even crime thriller, thus successfully keeping viewers wanting for more.

In Season 2 which premiered on November 15, we see more mystery about the world beyond the Silo emerging and the pursuit of freedom becoming stronger even as the outside world remains a toxic wasteland.

What's Expected from Silo Season 3?

Coming back to Season 3, it remains to be seen which characters will reprise their roles and where the story arc goes. Since much of Season 2 is yet to be revealed, chances are that the network might wait for the suspense to reach a point before Silo Season 3 is officially announced. Considering there's not one but many Silos in the show, new characters are expected to make entry.

For now, major characters with pivotal points in the story should be returning to the show for Season 3. Of course, that includes the hero of the series (for now, at least!) Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette. Considering the pivotal role Bernard has played in Season 1, Tim Robbins should also be returning as the antagonist. David Oyelowo is expected to reprise his role as Holston while actor Common is also expected to come back as Sims for Silo Season 3.

For now, everyone's awaiting the major twist at the end of Season 2. What new world awaits outside the Silo these guys have been living in? What lies behind the projections of greenery Juliette saw? How far will the attempts to free themselves take everyone away?

Guess we will have to await Silo Season 3. Here's hoping Rebecca Ferguson keeps the fans coming for more as the series ending awaits.
