Adam Sandler has finally given a sneak peek at Happy Gilmore 2 and fans are now excited to see what lies ahead. For one, there will be golfers. As of now, all we know is that Lee Trevino will return but this time he will be accompanied by more golf legends.
Trevino, along with Jordan Speith, Keegan Bradley, Xander Schauffele, John Daly, Corey Pavin, Rickie Fowler, Jack Nicklaus, and Collin Morikawa will be part of the golfing club. Joining them will be the Rap God Eminem and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
The new teaser confirmed the return of Happy Gilmore's (Adam Sandler) rival Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald), who tried to run off with Gilmore's gold jacket at the end of the first film. In the teaser, it seems like he wasn't really happy as Happy fans beat him to the pulp.
Legends... assemble!
Happy Gilmore 2 is bringing in a story after almost three decades and Adam Sandler is not really an underdog anymore in the story. The character development happened just fine and now it is time to give Gilmore's story a different spin.
But one thing appears imminent: it will be one great golf saga. Sandler reportedly wanted the character to appear in a senior golf tour but as of now, there's no detail on the plot.
Maybe with fatherhood, he is a changed man in Happy Gilmore 2. This also opens a gate for him to finally get a chance to associate with ice hockey again. However, the chances are less given that so many golfing legends will be assembled in the upcoming sequel.
It could be that Shooter will be seeking to challenge his rival in Happy Gilmore 2, and we could see him bringing the elites together in hopes of getting revenge by beating Happy in a team event.
Or Happy Gilmore 2 could be more about struggles
Happy Gilmore is one bad-tempered individual in the first film and his personality may not have been changed at all. But then he becomes an unlikely sensation; the golfers and other cameos we are about to see might be the result of his networking throughout the years.
But then why should it simply be a rivalry between Happy and Shooter? They might work together to dominate a character yet to be revealed. They could be the Godzilla and King Kong of Golf which surely sounds like an exciting premise.
This possibility comes as the final scene in the teaser shows Shooter visiting a graveyard where a gravestone behind him says "Peterson." Derick "Chubbs" Peterson is a character Late Carl Weathers played in the original film. It could be that it's a tribute but he might be a connecting string between the rivals.
He portrayed a retired pro golfer who was a friend and mentor to Happy. Despite Adam Sandler being the lead, he was the one who stole the show with his role.
