An epic musical fantasy, Wicked, also known as Wicked: Part 1, is an upcoming film. Divided into two parts, the film is an adaptation of the stage musical Wicked. The film will be available to watch in theatres on November 22, 2024, in the US.
The first part of the film shows the same events as the first act of the musical. The second part, which is scheduled to be released on November 21, 2025, is expected to cover the second act of the musical. The plot of Wicked takes place in the Land of Oz long before Dorothy Gale's arrival.
In Wicked: Part 1, audiences will see the journey of Elphaba and how she goes from being a student at Shiz University to becoming the Wicked Witch of the West. The film will also follow the unlikely friendship of Elphaba Thropp and Galinda Upland, who later becomes Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.
