The 2025 Oscars created another unforgettable moment when Selma Blair's service dog, Scout, stole the spotlight at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
The English red fox Labrador accompanied Blair, who revealed in 2018 that she suffers from multiple sclerosis. Her loyal companion has been providing her with mobility assistance and emotional support, according to a report in Distractify. This is one of the main reasons Scout was seen with the actress at the event.
Blair took to her Instagram account to share the precious moments with Scout at the Oscars. She shared a slew of pictures on her stories where A-list celebrities like Chrissy Teigen, Patricia Clarkson, and Justin Theroux, Laverne Cox among others couldn’t help themselves from posing with Scout.

In one of the pictures, where Blair posed with her dog, she wrote, “Puppy love. Best date. He misses all his new friends already.” She also shared an Instagram post where she praised Scout for being her, “solid date” to the Oscars.
Was this the first time Scout made a public appearance?
This was not the first time the Cruel Intentions actress was seen with her dog. Scout made an appearance in her interview with Today. Gushing about him, she said:
“He is such a love,” she said. “He’s really my best friend and makes everything a lot better and apparently he’s my love language.”

She added:
“Scout is the man and he comes with me on everything I’m so excited to do now. And movies and my son and Scout is absolutely part of the family.”
Previously in a 2022 interview with People magazine, Blair revealed that she was in remission.
"I'm doing really well. I'm in remission with the MS. And everything's looking really good," she said. "There was a lot of shifting with my physical and emotional abilities after that last big flare of MS."
She first introduced the dog on her Instagram account in 2018, according to a report in Distractify. She shared a bunch of photos with the dog and wrote,
“It has been a year and a half in the making, but today my new partner, Scout, and I graduated! We are now a service dog team.”
She mentioned in her post how Scout has been helping her with some personal stumbling blocks and aids in her mobility. She further asked her fans to respect her space and refrain from any kind of interaction.
"He is very handsome, and friendly, but if you see me and Scout, and we are working (which he really always is, as am I) then give a smile but please don’t approach. Distractions really set me back.” She added.
A report in Just Jared stated that Selma Blair will be making a comeback to acting after three years. Her new projects include Stay Forte, a war drama about the Israel-Hamas conflict; Silent, a supernatural thriller; and There There, where she will play a supporting role. Her most recent film was Far More (2021).
