Jane's Addiction canceled their remaining tour dates due to internal issues that led to an onstage fight on September 13, 2024. In an Instagram post on September 22, 2024, Perry Farrel's wife shared:

"Beyond grateful and so very humbled we are, to all the dears that have taken the time to send us such beautiful words of love and support - checking in over and over again to make sure we are well taken care of. Offering love and compassion, words of kindness, and even your homes for us to escape to…"

She continued:

"Like attracts like. Kindness attracts kindness. As you know, Perry is the gentlest of souls. We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are - but you must know that Perry must had been pushed to his absolute limit.. to that end we apologize. We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal."

She further added:

"Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know. With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere.."

The statement ends with Etty Lau stating that Perry Farrell will be back once he recovers.

More on Jane's Addiction onstage fight and tour cancelation

According to eyewitnesses as well as Etty Lau's previous Instagram statement on September 14, 2024, Perry Farrel received complaints from the front row that the music of the band was too loud and they couldn't hear his voice. This resulted in Farrel getting angry and punching Dave Navarro, starting the altercation.

Etty Lau Farrel explained it as follows:

"Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band...But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it."

Jane's Addiction at first apologized to its fans for the fight, before eventually canceling its tour soon after via another Instagram post, promising ticket refunds.

The band was on its reunion tour after a long hiatus. The original lineup of Peter Farrel, Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins were performing for the first time since 2010.

The band also released two new songs Imminent Redemption and True Love in 2024. The first one was released before the band embarked on the new tour, while the second was released on September 18, 2024.

Jane's Addiction started in 1985 and subsequently released two albums back to back. These included Nothing's Shocking in 1988 and Ritual de lo Habitual in 1990.

The albums were followed by the band's first hiatus in the early to late 1990s, before reuniting in the early 2000s to release their third album, Strays, on July 22, 2003. The band released its last studio album, The Great Escape Artist, nearly a decade later in 2011.
