Trinidad González recently appeared as Sicaru in Netflix's eight-part series The Secret of the River. The show is special both to Netflix and Trinidad since she is the first trans individual to appear on a Netflix show. Her meticulous performance has made many audience members curious about her nationality, career, and more.

Trinidad González is a 29-year-old model turned actress originally hailing from Tabasco, Mexico. She started her career as a model following her debut gig with Supa Modeling Agency. She eventually moved on to London to further pursue her dreams. In between her busy career, Trinidad progressed on her journey of transitioning.

The Secret of the River follows the heartfelt story of two children. Sicauru, played by Trinidad, gets embroiled in an unfortunate incident that returns to their lives and haunts them.

The film is set against an Oaxacan backdrop and prominently features a group of muxes, otherwise known as a group of Indigenous Zapotec people who identify themselves as a third gender. According to a report by Glamour Mexico, Trinidad has found her experience with the film to be liberating.

How did Trinidad González prepare for her role in The Secret of the River?

This being Trinidad González's first screen appearance, she was relatively unheard of when the character of Sicauru first fell into her lap. There is no doubt that she is talented and the prior years of modeling experience boosted her confidence, nevertheless while speaking to Glamour Mexico, she revealed that the preparation for her role involved a strenuous schedule.

She further added:

"It was a difficult process because everything happened so fast, it was like I was thrown into the ring unexpectedly. Suddenly I was with my acting teacher 6 days a week, working long hours, which was a bombardment of emotions and experiences."

Trinidad also mentioned that the entire pre-production process and the time she devoted to getting under the skin of the character was intensely fulfilling, like a therapy session. She remarked:

"It was like going to therapy, because there were situations in my life that I thought were already healed, but I had to face them again, so it was a challenge to be able to reconnect with those parts of me to interpret the story."

What is the next big thing for Trinidad González ?

As of now, Trinidad González is yet to announce any of the upcoming works and we don't know for sure if she has any show or film under her sleeve. However, she confirmed to Glamour Mexico that she is consistently working to deliver her best performance.

She also added that she has realized that too much planning her career won't work out in her favor and that she needs to let the chips fall where they may. She added:

"Nowadays I continue working. Before I was a bit obsessed with knowing what else was going to happen or what else I should do, but right now I prefer that things take their course and that what should happen in my life happens and I would love for them to be projects that match me, that I am very happy to do, to meet worthy characters that make me proud."

The Secret of the River is available for streaming exclusively on Netflix.
