Who does Meredith end up with on Grey's Anatomy?

Meredith Grey, one of the protagonists in Grey's Anatomy, has remained a be a loved character despite her professional mistakes and complicated relationships. In season 7, Meredith ended up with neurosurgeon, Derek Shepherd. The two went through several ups and downs but got married and had three children before Derek's death. As of season 21, Meredith Grey is in a relationship with transplant surgeon Nick Marsh.

Meredith and Derek are one of the most loved couples in American television history. The pair had their share of relationship issues which they eventually overcame. Meredith was reluctant to get married and even more reluctant to have a big wedding. Thus season 5 had the special 'post-it' scene where Derek and Meredith wrote their vows on a post-it and later kept it framed in their bedroom as a symbol of their love and commitment.

In season 7, Derek and Meredith got legally married in the episode titled, White Wedding. At that point, they had gotten married so that they could legally adopt Zola as their child, but the couple were already in love and ready and went on to have a beautiful marriage.

Meredith Grey's relationships after Derek's death

As of season 21, Meredith is in a relationship with Nick Marsh. But, he is not the first person she has dated since Derek died in season 11. Losing Derek was heartbreaking for Meredith. She had to not only mourn her husband and the love of her life but also take care of their three children, Zola, Bailey, and Ellis who had not yet been born when Derek died.

Will Thorpe

The first person she dated after Derek's passing was Will Thorpe. Will was an army surgeon and the pair dated briefly. Meredith and Will even spent a night together, but she freaked out to see him in her bed the next morning as it brought back painful memories. She ended things with him as she was not yet ready to move on.

Nathan Riggs

Meredith dated Nathan Riggs in season 12 which initiated from a one-night stand. Meredith was stern about her not wanting a relationship with him, but Nathan eventually won her over.

Their relationship was great until Nathan's ex-fiancee Megan, who was believed to be dead, came back. Meredith called it quits for the pair to reconcile.

Andrew Deluca

In season 15, Meredith was in a romantic relationship with Andrew Deluca. It did not work out for them eventually, but the two decided to remain friends. Later on, Andrew unfortunately died after getting stabbed.

Nick Marsh

In season 15, Grey's Anatomy introduced Nick Marsh as a patient. He had some chemistry with Meredith, but nothing happened between the two. In season 18, Nick came back to the show when he spotted Meredith at a dinner with David Hamilton.

Nick and Meredith had a great conversation later on that night followed by a great date the next evening. Meredith accepted Hamilton's offer to work in Minnesota on the Parkinson's Project which brought her and Nick closer.

Meredith and Nick started dating around this time but soon there were complications. When Meredith had to choose to stay as the Interim Chief of Surgery at Grey Sloan, she asked Nick to go back to Minnesota.

Six months later, Meredith and Nick met again when he came to do a triple organ transplant at Grey Sloan. At the end of that day, Meredith offered him the job of Residency Program Director at Grey Sloan. They soon resolved their earlier issues and decided to date again.

When Meredith had to move to Boston for Zola's education and her Alzheimer's research, she and Nick decided to be in a long-distance relationship. Later Nick leaves Grey Sloan Memorial to join Meredith in Boston.

In the latest season of Grey's Anatomy, Meredith Grey is in a relationship with Nick Marsh. After Derek, fans seem to like Nick the most for Meredith and only time will tell if he is the one she ends up with. Grey's Anatomy season 21 is currently ongoing and new episodes come out every Thursday at 10 pm on ABC and the next day on Hulu.
