Announcing her engagement to Hopkins, Lauren Alaina took to her Instagram handle and wrote, "Being yours forever has a nice ‘RING’ to it," alongside a picture in which she was flaunting her engagement ring.

However, in January 2019, the couple called it off and informed their fans about their split via a joint statement.

"You have been so supportive of us through all of our ups and downs, including personal struggles with health and family, and we couldn’t be more grateful. You share your lives with us, and we always want to be open with you in return."

She further mentioned how she and Hopkins decided to part ways after being engaged for about six months.

"We want to let you know that we have decided to call off our engagement. While we still have love for each other, we’ve grown into very different people over the last six years."

The statement further mentioned the reason behind their split. Lauren wrote that the two of them were "in a place where we are each looking forward to starting our own fresh, new chapters of lives." She added that this was not an easy decision for either of them, but they both believed it was the right one.

According to People Magazine, Hopkins also shared his part of the split and mentioned that the two of them fought hard to make their engagement work. However, he added that "what we want and what God has for us are 2 totally different things."

While the former couple has moved on in their lives, they both tied the knot to their respective partners last year. Lauren Alaina is now looking forward to becoming a mother.
