Eric Marlon Bishop, also known professionally as Jamie Foxx, is a proud dad to his two daughters, Corinne, 30, and Anelise, 16.

He recently opened up about his medical emergency in 2023 and how his daughter, Anelise, played a crucial role in his recovery. In his latest Netflix release, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...released on December 10, 2024, he revealed that he suffered a brain bleed which led to a stroke leaving him in critical condition for several weeks in the hospital.

“My vitals were so bad they were going to lose me,” the 56-year-old said. “That’s when a miracle happened. And that miracle was working through my youngest daughter.” He shared that he didn’t want his daughter to see him in that condition but she somehow managed to “snuck” into his hospital room. He added that his “vitals went down” as his daughter started playing the guitar.

“The nurses at the nurses’ station were baffled. Like,

‘Wow, what did they give him?’ So they rushed into the room and [Anelise] said, ‘Shh, I got him.’” He said that he realised “God was in” her instrument.

After expressing gratitude to his daughter Foxx, he sang a song about his illness and how his family supported him. He also referred to his elder daughter, Corrine.

“God don’t take me, my oldest daughter’s getting married, please let me walk her down the aisle,” he sang as he referred to her September wedding to Joe Hooten.

Jamie Foxx has always kept his personal life private. Not much is revealed about his daughters’ mothers as the Ray star believes in maintaining their privacy.

He welcomed his elder daughter, Corinne with his ex-Connie Kline on February 15, 1994. According to reports in Distractify, Jamie and Kline were romantically involved for a brief amount of period in 1993. They have a mutual understanding and maintain a healthy relationship to this day.

Corinne decided to follow in her father’s footsteps as an actor. She appeared in the thriller, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged and in the comedy series, Dollface. She also teamed up with her father for several projects including Netflix’s Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! and as a co-host for the game show, Beat Shazam.

Corinne shared an appreciation post for her father on Instagram. She shared that he was “resilient, brave, strong” during his recovery period.

“I couldn’t be more proud of you @iamjamiefoxx You created light from darkness. You turned tragedy into comedy. You shared your truth, your story in the most beautiful and honest way. I will never forget those months of uncertainty and recovery. You were resilient, brave, strong… and funny.” She wrote.

Foxx’s second daughter, Anelise was born on October 3, 2008. Her mom is Kristin Grannis, Foxx’s other ex, whom he reportedly dated in the early 2000s. The duo have maintained their relationship a secret. Grannis is not on social media platforms and has always preferred a life away from the spotlight.

Anelise is musically inclined just like her father. In a 2020 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jamie Foxx revealed,

“My 11-year-old now knows how to play the piano so well, she actually plays my songs while I sing to them."

Additionally, Anelise is also a sports enthusiast. During a 2019 interview with Good Morning America, Foxx spoke about her basketball skills.

"Her last game before COVID, she was playing with the boys, she had 21 points, 17 rebounds, 5 blocks." He shared about her football love while he appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan. "She's playing football with all the boys. She's playing flag football and she's the only girl in the league," he said.

Recently, Foxx shared an Instagram post, showering Anelise with his praise and love. He wrote:

“She would carry her guitar with her everywhere she went… I didn’t know that GOD was in that guitar… and she used that guitar to Heal me and bring me back and to make sure that I’m here… that guitar was my spiritual defibrillator…”

For the unversed, Jamie Foxx will be seen with Cameron Diaz in his upcoming film, Back in Action and a supernatural horror, King Spawn. Both films are slated to be released in 2025.
