The Sisters serve as supporting antagonists in the film The Shawshank Redemption.
Bogs Diamond is in charge of this gang of serial rapists who serve time at the Shawshank State Prison for rape. They pick Andy Dufresne as their new target after he is imprisoned in the same facility after being found guilty of killing both his wife and her lover.
Inspired by Stephen King's 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, Frank Darabont wrote and directed the 1994 American prison drama film The Shawshank Redemption.
Background of the Sisters in The Shawshank Redemption
To take advantage of the weaker prisoners, Bogs Diamond and other criminals convicted of rape at Shawshank Prison created a group. The length of their stay is uncertain; however, it started before 1947 because that was the year Andy Dufresne visited the prison.
Bogs initially sees Dufresne on the second day of his existence in Shawshank, and he immediately becomes lusty for him. He confesses this to Andy in the communal showers, telling him that he could be a "friend" to him.
The Sisters conspire to catch Dufresne and stalk him. Andy did his best to defend himself, but the Sisters were far more intent on enslaving and sexually abusing him. Due to the damage they caused him, Andy was frequently admitted to the infirmary. That was how things went for two years.
As his fellow prisoners watched the movie Gilda in 1949, Andy asked his friend Ellis Boyd Redding to sneak a poster of Rita Hayworth—the stunning actress who played the movie's title character and the novel's title celebrity—into the prison. Redding responds that he will ultimately get it, but it will take a few weeks.
The Sisters attack Andy once more as he leaves the filming room and bring him into a workshop where they attempt to pressure him into having oral sex with them. The plan's futility is exposed when Andy informs Bogs that, regardless of any harm they cause him, he plans to bite off whatever they put in his mouth. Andy was then severely beaten by The Sisters instead of being raped. In the end, he lives and is brought to the hospital, but Diamond is sent to solitary prison for a week.
This attack turned out to be Bogs' downfall since during his two years in prison, Andy had developed into a highly valued member of the staff, using his accounting expertise to serve as a financial planner for the guards and other staff members. Hadley surprises Bogs in his cell and beats him to within an inch of his life after a week in the hole. The Warden probably gave the order for this.
Bogs is left silent, disabled, and reliant on a feeding tube. The Sisters are permanently left without a leader after he is moved to a minimal security sanitarium. They were afraid that they would become like Bogs if they touched Dufresne once more. The Sisters would probably target Hadley for retaliation after he is imprisoned for his crime.
