Avengers Endgame is an American superhero film and a sequel to Avengers: Infinity War. It is the last Avengers film in the MCU’s Phase 3. Endgame is set in the aftermath of Thanos's snap and is about how the Avengers once again assembled to undo his actions and restore balance to the universe. Avengers Endgame is one of the most expensive Marvel films to ever be made. However, the film went on to be a massive hit and made $2.799 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of all time.
How did Black Widow die?
Natasha Romanoff, also known by her superhero name Black Widow, was one of the Avengers who passed away tragically. In Endgame, she and her fellow Avenger, Hawkeye (Clint Barton) travel to the past and head to Vormir to obtain the soul stone.
Vormir is the place where Thanos got his hands on the soul stone by sacrificing his daughter Gamora, in Avengers Infinity War. After reaching Vormir, Natasha and Clint met Red Skull who revealed that to obtain the soul stone they would have to sacrifice something they love. Learning this, the two Avengers thus agreed that one of them had to die, as they had promised to do whatever it would take to succeed in the Time Heist.
During the tearful farewell, Black Widow and Hawkeye both begin explaining to each other why they should be the ones to sacrifice themselves. While Natasha claimed that in the five years (after Thanos’ snap) she dedicated herself to finding a way to reverse the effect and that makes her fit to sacrifice herself for the soul stone, Clint Barton emphasized that he should be the one to be sacrificed to redeem himself for becoming a vengeful vigilante and wants to save his family.
Right when both of them knew that neither of them would budge, Hawkeye acted as if he agreed with Black Widow sacrificing herself only for both of them to have a small showdown (just to stop each other from sacrificing themselves) on the cliff. Seeing a chance, Hawkeye then rushed to the cliff and jumped, only to be caught by Black Widow who had jumped after him. Using his grappling arrow, the latter secured him to the cliff but pushed herself back by kicking the cliff, leading to her fall and death.
How did Iron Man die?
Iron Man sacrifices himself to save the victims of Blip and the universe at the end of Avengers: Endgame. After he and the rest of the Avengers are successful in collecting the Infinity stones by traveling to the past, they end up in a final face-off against an earlier version of Thanos.
During the faceoff, when the Avengers fought for the gauntlet with Thanos, Tony Stark aka Iron Man stole the Infinity stones onto his nanotechnological armor right before he could snap. Iron Man then snapped his fingers, wiping out Thanos and his army and saving the universe. While the snap saved countless lives, it turned out to be life-threatening for Stark.
Requiring immense power to handle the energy of the Infinity stone, plus the gamma radiation, zapped the life out of Tony resulting in his death. Iron Man died on the battlefield surrounded by his loved ones and was given a funeral once peace was restored. Iron Man’s death is considered to be one of the most heartbreaking moments in Marvel’s history.
