Woman of The Hour has garnered positive reviews since its release. Woman of The Hour, a Netflix film starring Anna Kendrick, brings to light a horrific scenario from the 1970s in which an infamous serial killer once gained entry into a popular dating show that was broadcast live!
Woman of The Hour follows a non-linear storytelling structure and jumps back and forth in time while portraying the gruesome crimes committed by serial killer Rodney Alcala. The game show, reminiscent of ABC's The Dating Game, serves as the narrative anchor that keeps the story together. Along with the impactful performances, the locations used by the production team have significantly blended with the narrative.
Most of the principal photography was done in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, and Los Angeles, California. The film uses both indoor and outdoor sets extensively. The filming took place in the winter of 2022. Here's everything else that we know about the shooting locations of The Woman of The Hour.
Woman of the Hour shooting locations explored

1) Metro Vancouver, British Columbia
Woman of the Hour was largely photographed in Metro Vancouver. The film is a period piece and depends upon the reconstruction of the past, and in this direction, Metro Vancouver seemed to be the perfect shooting location as it still retains parts of its old-world charm.
Apart from the locations itself, the actual shooting process is welcomed by the cooperative authorities, who give out tax concessions to the shooting crew. For this reason, Metro Vancouver is often called the Hollywood of the north and has hosted the productions of Hulu's Bad Times at El Royale, Under the Bridge, and Kiss the Girls.
2) Los Angeles, California
In addition to the sound stages of Metro Vancouver, the production team also spent a significant amount of the shooting time in Los Angeles, filming exterior scenes.
As mentioned earlier, the film is set in the 1970s, and therefore, the ethos of the film depended upon shooting in beautiful and empty LA neighborhoods as well as quiet highways that were characteristic of the place back in the '70s. The location also offered palm trees and vintage cars, contributing to the narrative.
Woman of the Hour production design details revealed
The Dating Game show is one of the pivotal settings of the Netflix film, and according to a report by Variety, the production designer Brent Thomas ensured that the set was accurate and true to life.
He researched thoroughly and took inspiration from the sets of popular game shows such as Let's Make a Deal and The Newlywed Game. The production design team also ensured that all the details were neatly carved out, and even recreated the vintage TVs and played a recorded version of the scenes on them.
Thomas also created the blurred glass that divides Cheryl Bradshaw and Rodney Alcala while the former tries to choose her date. Speaking about this prop with Variety, Thomas mentioned:
"The idea behind this was, when Sheryl was sitting there, she could kind of see a vague shape through the glass. But who was this person? Was it safe? Was it dangerous? This was boring down right into the theme of the movie."
Woman of the Hour is available exclusively on Netflix.
