The classic zombie comedy film The Dead Don't Die was released in the United States on June 14, 2019, with Focus Features overseeing the distribution. The story revolves around two police officers (Cliff and Ronnie) and their adventures in the fictional town of Centerville amidst the aftermath of a zombie outbreak.

This Bill Murray-Adam Driver starrer is currently being screened on Netflix and with the holiday season around the corner, it has garnered reignited attention from the audience. And one of the topics of discussion right now is the filming locations of Jim Jarmusch's absurdist horror comedy.

The Dead Don't Die was primarily filmed in and around small-town settings of New York City including Ancram, Fleischmanns, Margaretville, and Elizavile. The locations were chosen keeping in mind a rural atmosphere - a perfect backdrop for this cult horror comedy.

Different locations in and around New York were chosen for filming of The Dead Don't Die. One common thing among all these places is the semi-urban, small-town vibe which suits the story well.

(1) Elizaville, New York

The Elizaville Deli (located in Elizaville, New York) is one of the locations where many key shots were taken for The Dead Don't Die. Mostly exteriors of the real-life diner were used for these sequences. It is one of the places where the zombie outbreak begins in the movie.

The eating joint has a long history and has been in operation since 1956. It was originally located in Lebanon, Pennsylvania but later transited across state lines and also underwent multiple renovations.

(2) Fleischmanns, New York

The Delaware Court Motel in Fleischmanns, New York is yet another important location where a lot of action and bloodshed takes place in The Dead Don't Die. Many important sequences were shot inside the Delaware Court Motel - including the ones where the two officers (played by Murray and Driver) come across dead bodies left behind by the zombies.

This motel has been renamed as The Moonlight Motel in The Dead Don't Die. The actual lodge is located to the north of Fleischmanns' short Main Street. Viewers also see shots of the Cornerstone Bible Baptist Church Cemetary (a place where the zombies are seen buried) - which is quite crucial to the plot's buildup.

(3) Ancram, New York

The diner sequences in The Dead Don't Die have mostly been shot inside the West Taghkanic Diner in Ancram. The original diner is about 11 miles from the one in Elizaville.

The movie opens up portraying scenes from outside the diner. We see a police car approaching this small restaurant and later, it becomes the epicenter of the zombie outbreak. The two police officers (Murray and Driver) discover dead bodies here as well at the beginning of the movie.

(4) Margaretville, New York

The juvenile detention center seen in The Dead Don't Die was basically The Margaretville School. It is essentially a semi-rural area on the outskirts of New York and is located in Delaware County. This location has substantially added to the semi-urban small-town essence of the story.
