Paddington in Peru, the third installment in the live-action animated film, based on the adventures of the titular talking bear, takes him on another adventure. Paddington goes on an adventure to his hometown in Peru with the Brown family to be reunited with his Aunt Lucy.

The movie was released on February 14, 2025, in the US and features a cast including Hugh Bonneville, Imelda Staunton, Emily Mortimer, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Olivia Colman, and many more.

Paddington in Peru was shot primarily in London and the English countryside, but the crew also shot parts of the movie in Peru and Colombia to recreate the Peruvian rainforests and make the film more authentic.

Exploring Paddington In Peru filming locations

Here are some key filming locations for Paddington in Peru:

1) Peru

Paddington In Peru takes the titular talking bear and the Brown family to his hometown in Peru, so naturally, the movie was shot there.

As per a report by Accesswire, the film crew had immense help from the Peru Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PROMPERU) to secure work permits and visas to shoot in the country. Since the movie would naturally feature picturesque locations, it would likely increase Peru's tourism.

Director Dougal Wilson was influenced by Werner Herzog's films—which were also shot in Peru, included many iconic locations like Cusco, Maras, Machu Picchu, and Huayna Picchu in Paddington in Peru.

Olivia Coleman's Sound of Music moment is set against the backdrop of Maras, a beautiful Peruvian town. The exterior shots and landscapes of the Peruvian cities are peppered throughout the movie to give it an authentic feel.

2) London and the English countryside

In an interview with Time Out, producer, Rosie Allison revealed that they used the 'postage stamp technique' with the Brown family:

"Where we'd film the Browns within a little bit of forest in Hertfordshire and then put that within a bigger landscape that really exists in South America."

While the movie boasted large Peruvian landscapes, the Brown family scenes were shot in London. Aunt Lucy's retirement home was built in Berrybushes Farm, Hertfordshire, an English Countryside. The crew tried to stimulate the Peruvian rainforests:

"We built The Home For Retired Bears in inside a wood augmented with actual rainforest trees," Allison added.

Some other Rainforest scenes were also shot in Black Park, Buckinghamshire, a location similar to films like Harry Potter and Star Wars.

Exterior shots of the Brown family home were shot in Chalcot Crescent in Primrose Hill. According to Allison:

"We did one day there to do the exteriors and we did the interiors in the studio."

Fans of the movie might be disappointed after learning that the titular Paddington London station is not one of the filming locations in Paddington in Peru. The crew might have built a set or used CGI for the third installment.

3) Colombia

It looks like the crew wanted all of the rainforest landscape in the third installment, which is why the movie was also shot in Peru's neighboring country, Colombia.

As per Time Out, the Colombian landscapes were used for background photography, especially the small town of Prado, as Allison discussed:

"That’s where you see Antonio chopping a rope bridge."
