The historical action franchise Gladiator is back with the most anticipated sequel, Gladiator 2 with Ridley Scott continuing as the man behind the lens. As reported by Forbes Magazine, the film is already being screened in the theatres and is expected to stream on Paramount Plus and other OTT platforms by early 2025.
Gladiator 2 follows the story after the death of the Roman General Maximus (Russell Crowe) in Gladiator (2000) and will feature his son Lucius (Paul Mescal) this time as the new age 'Gladiator'. The events of the latest movie are set almost two decades after what happened in the 2000 film.
As Lucius (the son of Lucilla and Maximus) returns to the Colosseum as a fighter, we get to watch an action-filled emotional journey as he goes on a mission to avenge his family's death, just like his father did years back. A synopsis of Gladiator 2 reads:
"Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people."
When is Gladiator 2 going to be streamed on Paramount Plus?
As Paramount is in charge of Gladiator 2's distribution, the movie will stream on Paramount Plus. It is expected to take two to three months for the distribution company to make Gladiator 2 available on their streaming platform, which dates to early January or February 2025.
For instance, A Quiet Place: Day One took about two months to reach Paramount Plus after its theatrical premiere on June 28. On the other hand, Mean Girls took less time (about 53 days) before being available on streaming platforms.
Last year, Mission-Impossible: Dead Reckoning had a three-month window between its theatrical screening and online release. We can expect Gladiator 2 to follow the same trend.

When will Gladiator 2 stream on other digital platforms?
Before its release on Paramount Plus, Gladiator 2 will be available to stream on other digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Fandango At Home. Usually, the release window on OTT is around 45 to 65 days, and going by this number, we can expect Gladiator 2 to make its streaming debut on January 6, 2025, at the earliest.
However, all of this is still being speculated and the dates have not been confirmed yet. Amazon Prime membership starts at $14.99 per month and Prime Video has a monthly pack of $8.99. Apple TV+ provides membership worth $6.99 per month with a seven-day trial period.
