Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is moving ahead toward the next Avengers checkpoint and we don't know how many of those superheroes are going to be in there. But we know that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans will be, though not in the way we might think. They aren't playing piladex to keep Marvel Studios afloat.

But that's a good thing, as it shows the comic book giant isn't relying on a fair few characters to keep its live-action universe alive. Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in Marvel films, believes that the studio's decision to bring the actors back will just aid in exploring more future possibilities.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sebastian Stan affirmed RDJ and Chris Evans' return to MCU terming it as a bold move. He added that the move showed MCU's open-mindedness and willingness to explore possibilities.

Sebastian Stan is hopeful of new possibilities in MCU

Fans will throw themselves on a future MCU project bringing Captain America and Winter Soldier back, or Iron Man and Captain America, or all three for that matter. But that's not the only thing the creators can do, and Sebastian Stan has some thoughts on this, which he shared with Entertainment Tonight recently. He says,

“I think what I appreciate is that there’s always an open way of thinking. [Marvel Studios] don’t shut themselves down or put themselves in any pocket. They just want to keep exploring, and that’s what I think leads to great, better movies.”

Marvel is open to possibilities after it revealed RDJ as the next big baddie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Victor von Doom. Though credit for that partially goes to the Jonathan Majors (Kang the Conqueror) conflict, which brought them around the decision to show the Kang actor exit door. There was no other way.

This is sort of the same for Chris Evans, as we recently saw him reprising his role of Johnny Storm for a short period before we see Cassandra Nova (Emma Corin) skinning him. Maybe a multiversal variant, but MCU should work on this like they did on RDJ. Make the superhero duo a supervillain duo.

Last time we checked, RDJ's Tony Stark was dead for good and Chris Evans' Captain America went on to live his life within a few minutes before appearing as an aged man sitting on a bench. So we shouldn't expect them to take their respective mantles on, especially Chris, who transferred his responsibility to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).

RDJ has gotten fitting shoes but what about Chris Evans?

Robert Downey Jr. is all set for his future appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but what about Chris Evans? We still don't have any solid information as to which character he will be playing. Though there were rumors that he might be playing multiple roles, if that's the case, he might just become MCU's Harrison Wells.

But then more rumors were there that he might be playing a sidekick to Doctor Doom. Which may bring that supervillain duo concept to fruition. Which brings us to the possibility of a Hydra Supreme version of Captain America. Though he never interacted with Doctor Doom. But we are talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so we may see a story branching that connects these supervillains.

Multiverse certainly is the ultimate solution MCU has now, especially when it comes to bringing a beloved character. Although they won't be the same given the different universe. We already saw this bit in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
