In an interview with The Direct, Phoebe Dynevor recalled shooting for her recent film Inheritance. In it, she plays the role of Maya, who is accidentally caught in a deep web of conspiracy. The actress revealed that she was about to get arrested while shooting for the film because she was drinking in an open space.

She said,

"It's funny, that was our first day of shooting, I think. And, our director, Neil [Burger]said, I just want you to stay in character for as much as you can, because anytime we have interactions with real people, we might be able to, they might work in the movie. So just keep staying in character, we'll see what we can get."

Phoebe Dynevor said that her near arrest was about to take place on the first day of their shoot.

"And yeah, that first day, I was like, oh sh*t, because I was, you know, in character, drinking tequila from a bottle in Times Square and smoking and getting, like, really weird looks from mums with their small kids, pulling them away from me. And I was like, 'Oh, my God, this is so strange.' And then, yeah, I was basically very nearly arrested on our first day of shooting. There was a safety in being in New York and knowing that Cairo, India, and Seoul were all to come. It was, yeah, luckily, that was as close as it got."

The matter was resolved, though, when the director intervened and clarified that Phoebe was asked to stay in character for as long as possible because they were filming a movie.

Phoebe Dynevor's performance has met with mostly positive critical response in the film.

Inheritance is written by Neil Burger and Olen Steinhauer; Burger has also produced the film with Bill Block and Charles Miller. Besides Phoebe Dynevor, the film also stars Rhys Ifans, Ciara Baxendale, and Kersti Bryan, among others. The film was released on January 24, 2025, by IFC Films.

Burger opted against the typical camera used to shoot the film and instead went with an iPhone to shoot his action thriller. Talking to Comic Book Movie, the director delved into his reasoning behind it.

He said,

"The problem with when you go on a film, is films are very disruptive and they draw attention to themselves. I didn’t want people looking at us, I wanted to be looking at people."

He further explained that shooting with an iPhone allowed him access to go anywhere and shoot his film with much ease.

"The idea was to shoot it on an iPhone, no boom mics, no lighting, so we could see the world flowing by us. It wasn’t a gimmick or merely a substitution for a motion picture camera. It was to give us access. We could go anywhere. We shot in airplanes in flight, full dialogue scenes, stolen shots."
