The season of Christmas demands original Christmas movies and Netflix joins the fray of connecting universes as it creates its Christmas movie universe for viewers to enjoy every year during its holiday season.

Netflix’s Christmas Cinematic Universe began in 2018 while feeling the need to create a Holiday Calendar, the directors wanted to insert a film that perfectly aligned to the events with movies that were playing on screen. Amanda Phillips Atkins, EVP at the MPCA, stated;

“It felt like a natural fit to show one of our other films available on Netflix,”

There are numerous holiday movies made available on Netflix that are interconnected. This is something that can be described as the NCU - the Netflix Christmas Universe.

Christmas Inheritance premiered in 2017. In this film, Ellen is a New York socialite and heiress whose penchant for partying makes Jim, her father, question whether she's mature enough to be a CEO. He says he used to write Christmas letters to his former business partner Zeke in person every year - from one city to Snow Falls in New England.

As a test, Jim sends Ellen to town with a sum of $100 to do the job without her wealth, social status, or influence. When she arrives in town, she learns that she has just missed Zeke; a blizzard leaves her stranded at the inn run by Jake.

Soon discovered, she cleverly poses as a tutor to the prince's younger sister, Princess Emily, while trying to find a big story.
