Indiana Jones star, Harrison Ford, will grace the big screen with his Red Hulk (aka Thaddeus Ross) avatar in MCU's upcoming film, Captain America: Brave New World. President 'Thunderbolt' Ross' story as the red villain begins with an assassination attempt on him that mutates him into this mighty beast.

Earlier in July, Marvel teased the fans with a CGI masterpiece of the Red Hulk. But, director Julius Onah has still not revealed anything about Hulk's transformation story.

However, as per the latest reports, Ford has recently opened up about his character saying that the beast "is being controlled". His statement has garnered quite some social media attention as to what exactly the transformation would mean.

What did Harrison Ford say about the origins of the Red Hulk transformation?

Harrison Ford reportedly mentioned in a statement to Empire, saying:

"I don't think I want to go very much into what the mechanism is and how he is being controlled. I don't think that there's a choice. Didn't feel like it at the time."

He opened up about President Ross' gamma mutation where he emphasized the fact that the character "is being controlled" by some sort of mechanism which still remains unclear. It supposedly means that his transformation is not voluntary.

Red Hulk will reportedly be controlled from the backend by the supervillain Marvel character, Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader. He is supposedly the one behind President Ross' transformation as he infuses red gamma radiation into the latter's body and mutates him into an invincible beast.

What more do we know about the Red Hulk aka Ross?

The head of visual development of the Marvel studios, Ryan Meinerding, has reportedly told Entertainment Weekly while sharing his thoughts on the Red Hulk:

"The Red Hulk in the comics is not entirely a monster. He has more of a human personality to him. So, we’re trying to create something that felt a little bit more human to match Ross’s personality."'

As per reports, Ford's involvement in the stunts smoothed things up. Visual effects supervisor, Dan Cox, reportedly said in a statement:

"At one point, I needed him landing and thought we can have the stunt guy do it. He’s like, ‘No, no, no! I’ll do it.'" He added, "I put up an apple box that’s about two feet off the ground. I’m like, ‘I need you to jump down onto the ground and land as a Hulk.’ He did it about a dozen times, and every single time, I held my breath, but he went all in."

Furthermore, show producer, Nate Moore, portrayed Red Hulk's character as someone:

“who is trying to do the best he can but can’t quite outrun the demons of his past.”

Moore added:

""Turning a guy who hunted Hulks into a Hulk himself makes him more than an antagonist; it makes him a tragic character."

Captain America: Brave New World is set for a theatrical release on Fenruary 14, 2025. The movie will star Sam Wilson as the titular character, Captain America (after Chris Evans' Steve Rogers took retirement from the role). Among others in the cast we have Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns (The Leader), Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, and Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres.
