Ken Flores, a stand-up comedian passed away at the age of 28 on January 28, 2025, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
The cause of his death has been reported as cardiac arrest by the law enforcement authorities. A report in TMZ stated that his body was found at his residence in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon. The police suspected no foul play.
His family announced his death in a statement on Instagram. It read,
"It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our friend, brother, and son, Kenyi Flores.”
The family further requested privacy as they grieve his loss.
“Please respect our privacy at this time as we are all shocked and devastated by this loss.” The statement concluded.
The comedian recently kicked off his Butterfly Effect Tour on January 10, 2025, in Portland, Oregon which was slated to run through April 19, 2025, ending in San Diego, California, according to his Instagram.
Flores was a rising star in comedy circles, particularly known for his work in Los Angeles and Chicago. He co-created the LatinXL comedy show with comedian René Humberto Valdiviezo, as per Newsweek. According to an interview with Comedy Gazelle, Flores shared that he was born in Chicago and raised in Humboldt Park and later moved to Aurora.
He became a YouTuber at the age of 15-16.
“I had a few videos actually go viral on World Star Hip Hop. I got a taste of that entertainment world, like, “I want to be an entertainer.” He told the outlet.
In his early 20s he got an invitation to perform at an open mic night at a comedy club, the report added. He shared that he did probably 14 open mics in his whole comedy career.
His fellow comedian René Vaca also remembered him in an emotional Instagram post. He shared a picture along with him under the caption,
“Life will never be the same. I love you so much king.”
