All about the latest pop singer
Kayleigh Rose Amstutz aka Chappell Roan is a rising American pop star who hails from Missouri.
She stepped into the world of music during her schooling when she participated in talent hunt shows and local events.
Best known for songs like “Pink Pony Club”, “Red Wine Supernova” and “Good Luck, Babe”, Roan adopted her stage name from her grandfather whose name was “Dennis K. Chappell”. She took “Roan” from the song “The Strawberry Roan”, which was her granddad’s favourite song.
Roan debuted in the music industry with Atlantic Records in 2015. She released “Pink Pony Club”, but was later dropped from the records as her music failed to gain an audience.
She released her first album in 2023 titled, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” through Island Records.
“I just wanted to make something that I could party to and that other people could party to….Something that I would never be sad or bored performing.” Roan tells Jimmy Fallon in 2024 interview chat.
Roan was in news in August, when a massive gathering at the Lollapalooza Music Festival held in Chicago broke the attendance record. According to a spokesperson, “It was a magical moment added to Lolla’s DNA.” The exact number of attendees is still unconfirmed.
Given to her rising popularity, she went on to perform at Bonnaroo Music Festival and Coachella. Not to forget her performance at the Governor’s Ball in New York, which went viral on the internet. Roan’s Statue of Liberty-inspired costume and her political statements were the key points of the event.
Not many must be aware that Chappell Roan shares a long-time friendship with Olivia Rodrigo. She has opened musical tours for her in the past. Roan also worked on background vocals for most of Rodrigo’s songs.
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Rodrigo revealed that she used to eat donuts with Roan before she became a star.
"I used to go visit her when she worked at a doughnut shop before she got signed, before she put out any of her music. I used to go and eat doughnuts with her and hang out." Olivia Rodrigo said.
