Are there any changes in Captain America: Brave New World after reshoots? Entertainment Weekly's recent feature has just provided clarifications on the same.

Captain America: Brave New World, the latest MCU offering, didn't start out the way we're currently witnessing it. It came up almost as a joke from the Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Back in 2014, Feige got up on a stage to announce the studio's upcoming slate of movies. One of them was titled Captain America: Serpent Society. Shortly after, it was revealed to be a false title as the studio introduced the actual title: 2016's Captain America: Civil War.

While the title was part of a ruse, Marvel fans were well aware of Serpent Society and its implications in this superhero universe. Now, more than 10 years later, this group of supervillains is returning to the screen. However, there is a minor alteration. They do not look like costumed heroes. Turns out, actor Giancarlo Esposito had a different perspective on how the characters should look and appear on the screen. That became the crucial change in the Captain America: Brave New World reshoots.

Instead of the "goofy" look, the Breaking Bad actor hoped to make changes to his look as Sidewinder. While speaking with EW on this topic, the Emmy-nominated actor said:

"I went back to the comic. I figured out what the guy looked like. I didn't want to look like that. [Director Julius Onah] wanted a groundedness of what I'm going to bring to it, but I wanted to borrow some color, the lining of the coat color, different subtleties from the original comic so I knew I could be channeling Seth Voelker."

Captain America: Brave New World is about to bring Sam Wilson's Captain America to screens who will face Thaddeus Ross's Red Hulk. Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford are all set to step in the shoes of these MCU characters and combat each other in the upcoming release. Sam is effectively taking over Steve Rogers' responsibilities. However, that's not the only change in the film. Turns out, there is a major creative change, which leads to a reimagined look of a group of villains.

Serpent Society, which was once just a part of a bluff, is now an integral part of the upcoming Captain America movie. Captain America: Brave New World is going to bring this new set of characters to the screen. While speaking on this topic, director Julius Onah said:

"Serpent Society has pretty much always been there from the first conversations about this film."

Serpent Society was considered to be a part of Captain America: Brave New World after reshoots. While speaking about their ideation process, Marvel producer Nate Moore said:

"The Serpent Society is one of Cap's all-time Hall of Fame villain groups. but in publishing, they can be very goofy."

So, to avert the goofiness of costumed villains, actor Giancarlo Esposito suggested a crucial change in Captain America: Brave New World after reshoots.

Entertainment Weekly's recent article details some reimagined changes in Captain America: Brave New World after reshoots. They came into being from the mind of Giancarlo Esposito, who is being introduced as Serpent Society's Sidewinder, aka Seth Voelker.

The film's teaser, which was released back in July 2024, shows Esposito's character in the middle of a shootout against Captain America. However, he doesn't look like how the comics portray his character in a snake-skin costume. Instead, Seth Voelker is now a black ops team member and looks like one. Esposito described him as a "very delicious and powerful character." While speaking about his thought process, the actor said:

"[Director Julius Onah] wanted a groundedness of what I'm going to bring to it, but I wanted to borrow some color, the lining of the coat color, different subtleties from the original comic so I knew I could be channeling Seth Voelker."

Esposito's contribution led to this reimagination in Captain America: Brave New World after reshoots. Director Julius Onah praises it by mentioning how the actor brought "a grounding and a gravitas to the Serpent Society through Sidewinder."

Captain America: Brave New World is set to be out in theaters on Feb 14, 2025.
