Burna Boy recently performed at the Greater Lagos Countdown in Lagos, Nigeria. During the performance, there was an altercation between the singer and a fan, resulting in the singer leaving the stage without completing his scheduled performance.
The altercation and the subsequent stage leaving by the singer have resulted in reactions from netizens on social media, as exemplified by the tweet quoted below:
"Everybody dey go your house. We are never getting another burna."
Other netizens reacted in varied ways, with some criticizing the singer for canceling the performance for one incident, while others defended him, pointing out he was clearly shaken by the altercation:
"Leaving a performance when the governor of the state and other dignitaries were present is mad disrespectful tbh." one netizen reacted.
"This brother doesn’t rate Nigerians at all. Because of one person you cancelled show on thousand. The same Burna boy will be singing about rubbish politician." another netizen stated.
"The only time burna boy treats fans with respect is if they’re white. Fans are sometimes overwhelmed with love but if you’re not white or based in Nigeria, expect a kick to the head. His white fans get invited backstage and given gifts just for knowing his lyrics." one reactor stated.
"Some of you don’t use your brains…He was obviously scared, he didn’t know what was about to happen in that instance. See how the fool even tried to grab his legs, y’all don’t know that some of these artists have to look over their shoulders everyday… Burna has enemies." one commenter reacted.
"If not pride, what is it? Hold on a second. Someone paid you for a show, you delivered your own side of the job halfway because a fan jumped on the stage to touch you. I’m yet to understand the rationale behind him leaving the stage in such an awful way. Does Burna Boy not get touched by humans?" another commenter questioned.
Burna Boy is scheduled to perform in Europe in 2025
Burna Boy is scheduled to perform three shows in Europe in 2025. The dates and venues for these shows are given below:
- April 14, 2025 – Saint-Dennis, France at Stade De France
- July 5, 2025 – Berlin, Germany at Waldbuhne
- July 6, 2025 – Monchengladbach, Germany at Sparkassenparky
In 2022, the singer appeared in an exclusive interview with Billboard, during which he talked about the venues he would want to perform at, stating:
"My dream venues, other than all the stadiums in the world, are unorthodox, like a theme park or a f***ing train station. A concert in a big-a** train station, and there’s no trains and the whole tracks are filled with people. I just want to do weird sh-t like that for my own pleasure.”
The singer released his latest studio album in 2023. The album is titled I Told Them..., and the singer talked about it during his interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe podcast on August 22, 2023:
"They say a lot of times that prophets is not really recognizing its own home and shit. So this one is for the part of my own home and the people in my own home who didn’t believe or doubt it, or still doubt, or any type of thing. And not just them, it’s like everyone that ever heard me speak in the past or when I’d first started."
The singer continued:
"You can go back to my old tweets and stuff. I basically predicted everything that’s happening now. So this is basically that. It’s fun to tell people something is true, and they doubt, and then they end up seeing it. There’s no greater feeling."
Burna Boy is best known for his fourth studio album, African Giant, on July 26, 2019. The album remains one of the two most successful albums of his career to date, with the other one being his sixth studio album Love, Damini.
