Famed stunt pilot Rob Holland died in a plane crash on April 24, 2025, near the Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia. He was 50.

His death was confirmed in a statement on social media by Rob Holland Aerosports. The cause of his death is unknown “and is under investigation by the FAA, NTSB, and DOD.”

The statement read:

“Rob was one of the most respected and inspiring aerobatic pilots in aviation history. Even with an absolutely impressive list of accomplishments, both in classical competition aerobatics and within the air show world, Rob was the most humble person with a singular goal to simply be better than he was yesterday.”

Holland was well-known for his aerobatic routine at air shows, and was the founder of the aerobatic flight company, Rob Holland Aerosports, which specializes in top-tier aerobatic training, airshow performances, and customized aviation solutions. He was reportedly known for his daredevil stunts in aircraft like the Pitts S-2C, Ultimate 20-300S, MX2, and his tailor-made MXS-RH.

According to a report in Sport Aerobatics, Rob and his wife Jessica tied the knot in May 2011. He told the magazine that they met when she visited his office for an aerobatic ride. Jessica is an aeronautical engineer. They dated for nine months, per the magazine, before taking the next step in their relationship. Here is what we know about Rob Holland’s family.

They dated for nine months before saying “I do” to each other. Even after getting married, he competed at the World Aerobatic Championships (WAC) and won the national championship. He reportedly did 23 air shows that year. He told the outlet:

“I got married in May, and we went on a honeymoon for a week. I left the honeymoon for an air show, then wasn’t home again until the week before Oshkosh. I was home for that week, then left for Oshkosh. I went straight from Oshkosh to Milwaukee for the show in Abbotsford; went from there to Chicago. I left from Chicago to go to Italy.”

He pursued studies in Aviation Flight Operations and Aviation Management at Daniel Webster College in the 1990s. He earned an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and started his own air shows in 2002, as per Irish Star.
