Again, sleuth Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is returning for a new mystery in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Like the first two films, it will bring together a group of some new but remarkable faces to the franchise who we have seen giving some of the best performances throughout the years.

Both the films in the franchise were praised globally but were poles apart when it came to commercial success. But, that is explained by the Glass Onion's limited release that brought the creators $15 million in earnings while Knives Out raked in over $300 million in revenue.

What we know about the mystery film is that Rian Johnson is keeping it tight so it can stay a mystery to the audiences. Hopefully, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery won't be the last chapter of the story, at least that is likely the case until Johnson and Craig stick together.

Here's what we know about Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

In the film's cast, only Daniel Craig was confirmed as Benoit Blanc but the remaining members are a mystery. But we know who is in it and here are the names:

  • Cailee Spaeny
  • Glenn Close
  • Andrew Scott
  • Josh Brolin
  • Mila Kunis
  • Jeremy Renner
  • Josh O'Connor
  • Kerry Washington
  • Daryl McCormack
  • Thomas Haden Church
  • Annie Hamilton
  • Kerry Frances
  • Marcus Edward Bond

Maybe a trailer would shed light on some of these characters in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery but this is all we have now. A couple of pairs of actors have been seen together before on the screen, this includes Daniel Craig and Andrew Scott in Spectre (2015), and Josh Brolin and Glenn Close in Brothers (2024). In addition to that, Tom Hardy and Lindsay Lohan were said to join the cast but Jeremy Renner and Mula Kunis ended up in it.

One interesting thing about the franchise is that the titles draw inspiration from popular songs of their times. Knives Out is a song by Radiohead that came in 2001. The sequel? That title was inspired by The Beatle's Glass Onion. The upcoming has picked that up from U2's Wake Up Dead Man.

Regarding Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery's release, it is scheduled for this year but it is likely to arrive at Netflix only. However, Daniel Craig hopes to see this one getting more than just a week's theatrical run. We may likely see another trailer soon given that filming has been wrapped up, as Johnson revealed on his Instagram.

Maybe they are going heavy on a marketing campaign, or maybe it is the postproduction.

What clue does the teaser left for the audience?

There is no face, if that is what you are looking for in the Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery teaser that came out eight months ago. But, it did tell us that the louche Blanc is up against in his next investigation. We can hear Craig's character in the background who says:

"In the beginning, the knives came out. Then behold, the glass was shattered. But my most dangerous case yet is about to be revealed."

Whatever Benoit Blanc is about to encounter might be dangerous, but fun too, taking into account his past couple of adventures.
