Valiant One: Release date, plot, cast and more about the upcoming action thriller starring Chase Stokes and Lana Condor

Briarcliff Entertainment is getting ready to distribute another action flick dubbed Valiant One which is, as the title suggests, about a valiant soldier now in charge of leading a group of soldiers out of North Korea. Briarcliff has distributed several action movies including Honest Thief (2020), Copshop (2021), Blacklight (2022), and more.

The film is directed by Steve Barnett, who has also co-written and co-produced it. Barnett has been a part of commercially successful movies before, where he has co-produced Zack Snyder's 300, Mark Waters' The Spiderwick Chronicles, and more. He was also the executive producer of George A. Romero's Land of the Dead.

Although a majority of the film's events are shown to be happening in North Korea, the principle photography happened in Vancouver, Canada. The region has a canopy cover of 23 percent, with most of it being temperate rainforests, which is clear in the trailer why the creators chose the place to shoot.

When will Valiant One be released?

Although Valiant One was supposed to be up and running in the theatres already as it was scheduled for a US-wide release on January 24, 2025, it's now coming out on January 31, 2025. That's the only movie Blaircliff Entertainment is distributing in January 2025, while it will add a couple more, When I'm Ready and My Dead Friend Zoe, in the following month.

But it will be clashing against other highly anticipated ones coming in on the same day. One of them would be Companion, where Jack Quaid's character Josh will see his artificial girlfriend coming to her senses that'll jog his memory of his The Boys days.

What is the plot of Valiant One?

As we briefly mentioned, a band of soldiers needed to get out of North Korea after their helicopter crashed. Expanding upon this, a synopsis mentioned Rotten Tomatoes read,

"In the heart-pounding military thriller VALIANT ONE, a routine mission goes awry when a US army helicopter crashes deep within North Korean territory. Now, a team of non-combat tech specialists, led by Captain Edward Brockman (Chase Stokes), must navigate the hostile terrain and fend off North Korean forces as they desperately race to escort a civilian tech specialist across the treacherous Demilitarized Zone."

An interesting thing about the story is that it is inspired by real-life events. One of Barnett's friends told him about this one incident that happened in the demilitarized zone and that is where the idea came from; he explained to Variety in an interview.

The cast of Valiant One?

Chase Stokes is playing Edward Brockman as mentioned in the synopsis and will be the leading man, both film and plot-wise. He is joined by Lana Condor, who is playing Selby, a soldier in his support. Callan Mulvey is in the movie too, who is known for Underbelly. We are used to seeing him as a part of military teams, whether that team's taking down Captain America.
