Sony Pictures has released the official trailer of their forthcoming horror film Until Dawn. The one-minute and 50-second-long trailer has some chilling moments from the film that help generate excitement among fans. It is the second trailer, as the first one was released in January. This one begins with a masked man hacking a woman to death.

Then a voiceover describes a place that is stuck in time where several people are stuck. One of the characters then explains that every time they die, they find themselves back at that place again. However, the night has changed, and it's not the same as the previous one.

The trailer then goes into a montage of several gruesome, gory, and scary moments from the film that then crescendoes into a thrilling point.

What is the plot of Until Dawn?

Until Dawn is inspired by the namesake video game, which was released in 2015. It takes place in the same universe with an original story that takes its inspiration from the mythology of the video game. It's about a girl named Clover who goes to a remote location with her friends to find out the mystery behind the disappearance of her sister. The official synopsis reads,

"A group of friends trapped in a time loop, where mysterious foes are chasing and killing them in gruesome ways, must survive until dawn to escape it."

The film stars Ella Rubin in the lead role as Clover, who gets stuck in a time loop at a remote location with her friends. She started her career as a child actress in the 2014 film The Rewrite and has since been active in the industry. Other cast members, as per IMDb, are:

  • Michael Cimino as Max
  • Belmont Cameli as Abel
  • Odessa A'zion as Nina
  • Peter Stormare as Hill
  • Ji-young Yoo as Megan
  • Maia Mitchell as Melanie

In an interview with Collider, David F. Sandberg explained the film is a unique adaptation of the original video game. He said that the script didn't try to do the game in the same way.

"Because again, the game is the closest thing that I've played to an interactive movie, but it pretty much is already a 10-hour movie. To cut it down to two hours or something, it's just never going to be the same thing. I thought it was really brilliant to have this resetting thing built into the movie so you can still get that thing you have with the game where you play it over and over again and make different choices so you get to see different deaths."
