David F. Sandberg directed Until Dawn, a horror film based on its original game, released in 2015. The movie is set to hit the theatres on April 25, 2025, across the United States. The story revolves around friends trying to survive a mysterious killer in a remote mountain area.
Until Dawn will have Ella Ruben and Michael Cimino as some of the lead stars. Supermassive Games developed the original game, and later, in January 2024, there were announcements about a live-action film in process. Blair Butler (known for his work in The Invitation) wrote the original draft for Until Dawn, and Gary Dauberman is in charge of the screenplay. With Sandberg directing the piece, PlayStation Productions will oversee the production work of Until Dawn.

Although there is still no official trailer for the upcoming Until Dawn film, production work has already begun (undertaken by Screen Gems along with PlayStation Productions). The movie is set to hit the big screen on April 25, 2025, across the United States, as the announcement came from Sony Pictures Entertainment. However, there is no news of its release on VOD or OTT platforms.
What do we know about the plot of Until Dawn?
Reports say the feature film adaptation of Until Dawn will supposedly follow the story of the 2015 game, which is based on eight young adults who spend a night in a lodge amidst Blackwood Mountain. A year ago, on the same day, they had lost one of their friends, so in memory of the deceased, the group reunited to camp in a remote mountain area.
Soon, they realize that they are not alone in that place, as a mysterious killer tries to hunt them down one by one. With a sinister force lurking around the corner, the group tries to survive while fighting off the evil. The adaptation of a horror action game follows the recent trend of the series Fallout and has raised a lot of excitement among fans, especially the ones with a taste in video games.
Who is in the cast of Until Dawn?
The lead stars for the Until Dawn movie will be Ella Rubin and Michael Cimino (who will also appear on the big screen this year for his horror comedy movie Girl Haunts Boy). Though the roles are not yet confirmed, we have a set of stars joining us for the cast, including:
