Unlike many movies released these days, Until Dawn does not have a post-credit scene. Such end-credit scenes have become too frequent in films these days. Until few years ago, they were often limited to superhero movies. However, they have been increasingly common in horror and fantasy movies, with recent examples being Ryan Coogler's Sinners and Oz Perkins' The Monkey. With these scenes, movies can offer a peak into the future of their characters or reveal something shocking about their past. In the case of superhero movies, they can be merely for fan service.

Until Dawn does not include a similar scene or a snippet after its credits start rolling, but its ending shows enough potential for a sequel. With the growing trend of creating franchise projects over standalone movies, it won't be surprising if many viewers expect similar follow-up projects for this movie. Usually, the things left unanswered were unanswered for a reason and the mystery in itself allowed it to linger in our minds for a longer time. However, that may not be the case with viewers of this video game adaptation that interestingly uses the game's interactive nature.

Let's find out how the ending of Until Dawn might lead it to get a follow-up project.

What can happen in the Until Dawn sequel? Possibilities explored

If you're wondering if the Until Dawn movie has a post-credit scene, the answer is no, it doesn't. However, in the end, it shows something that can set it up for a sequel. Before diving into that, let's briefly recap what happens in the film. A group of friends ends up in a small town in search of the sister of one of them. While on the way, they stop at a gas station and meet Mr. Hill, who leads them to that town. Somehow, they end up in a visitor center which puts them in a strange predicament.

They cross paths with an assailant in the basement. Despite dying, they return to life, only to realize that they have a few more left to find the missing sister, or else, they turn into evil spirits. So, they end up in a time-loop scenario, much like Groundhog Day, where the only way they can escape is to understand the rules of the world and defy them to the best of their abilities. It's not an easy task since they also need to face their deepest and darkest fears, besides the literal monsters around them.

Eventually, Mr. Hill is revealed to be the mastermind behind the scenario, who was working on some mind experiments. However, after making a team effort to defeat him, the group leaves the center and manages to drive away. That should be the end of this survival thriller, right? Well, that may not be the case since the surveillance footage suddenly starts showing a snowy cabin. So, while the group of friends survived the horrors, Mr. Hill might just inflict them on someone else.

Since another car pulls up outside that center, it might bring the next group of victims that Mr. Hill chooses to exploit for his experiments. A potential sequel can explore that. Otherwise, it can also show Mr. Hill's past in case the audiences are interested in his backstory and understand why he is doing what he is doing.
