David F. Sandberg's film adaptation of the critically acclaimed video game Until Dawn will see a group of friends stuck in a time loop, bringing new nightmares to the table. It stars Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and more stuck in a visitor's center. Currently, Until Dawn is scheduled to be released on April 25, 2025.
The film's official synopsis reads,
"One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. They find themselves horrifically murdered, only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening."
Although this will be a new story in the movie, the creators have promised to stay faithful to the source material. Peter Stormare returns to the story, though he won't be playing the same character we saw him bring to life in the video game. We will now take a look at who plays who in the film.
Until Dawn cast and character guide
Ella Rubin as Clover
Ella Rubin is the lead in the movie, searching for her sister alongside her friends, who end up in the visitor's center, where their nightmares begin. She debuted as an actress with a Broadway revival of The Rose Tattoo and is known for her roles in The Chair (2021) and The Girl from Plainville (2022).
Michael Cimino as Max
The American actor is playing a new character called Max, who isn't in the original version of the story we saw in the video game. Camino acted in Nickelodeon's Hopefuls in his early days and then rose to fame with his character Victor Salazar in Love, Victor.
Odessa A'zion as Nina
In the Until Dawn trailer, we see a girl who first notices an hourglass, which they later learn is central to their survival. The girl is Nina, and Odessa A'zion is portraying the character. Details, like the other characters, are still thin on the ground. She has appeared in films like The Inhabitant (2022), Sitting in Bars with Cake (2023), and more.
Ji-young Yoo as Megan
Megan is the first who goes missing among the group and encounters the masked man, who then kills her. Ji-young Yoo is playing the character who seemingly appears to be the most sensitive in the group, given she hides in the closet when she gets afraid. She has appeared in a number of films like Smoking Tigers (2023), Freaky Tales (2024), and more.
Belmont Cameli as Abel
Belmont Cameli appears to be the most mature character of the group in Until Dawn, Abel, and is likely to be in a relationship with Nina, given the way he is holding her at the beginning of the trailer. He is known for playing Jamie Spano on Saved by the Bell reboot.
Maia Mitchell as Melanie
Maia Mitchell's Melanie is why everyone now has to survive until dawn. She is Clover's missing sister, whom the group has stepped up to find. Later, they find her signature in a register they see in the visitor's center. She was critically acclaimed for her portrayal of Callie Adams Foster in The Fosters and got a spin-off series of her own called Good Trouble.
Peter Stormare as Hill
Last but not least, Peter Stormare returns to Until Dawn, but he isn't playing Dr. Hill, who is a psychiatrist in the game. However, by the looks of his character, he is somewhat of a store manager who likely knows a thing or two about the mysteries the group will encounter.
He has appeared as The Replacer in Call of Duty and is known for several critically acclaimed films like Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), Minority Report (2002), and more.
