Tyga talked about the NFSW album in an exclusive interview with Smash Magazine on May 27, 2024:

"My album is about 85 percent complete. So, I’m trying to release it this side of the year or maybe towards the end of the year. My album is definitely different than the project with me and YG. That’s why I really wanted to do the project with YG. Of course, I still have great songs on my album, but it’s more melodic; -"

The singer continued:

"- it is just a different vibe, even from some of the features that I have on it. I really wanted to make sure that this project with YG had that LA West Coast feel, like, boom, we’re going to give you the party vibes and some good performance stuff. And as for my album, I still have a little bit of that, but it is way more versatile as far as evolving the sound."

Tyga previously released a collaborative record with YG back in 2023, titled Hit Me When U Leave the Klub: The Playlist. The album received moderate success on commercial charts and featured guest appearances by Busta Rhymes, and Blxst as well as Lil Wayne.
