Transformers & G.I. Joe Crossover Movie: Everything we know so far about the long-awaited crossover film

Double the action is on it's way as Hasbro's two biggest franchises, the Transformers and G.I. Joe are set to cross over in the upcoming film. The film will explore both the universes and bring them together in what can only be described as one of Hasbro's biggest projects till date.

Initially teased at the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and further confirmed at 2024's CinemaCon by Paramount Pictures, Transformers & G.I. Joe Crossover Movie is still in it's early stages of development, with details of casting not yet being revealed to the public. However, rumors have circulated that Chris Hemsworth could be one of the contenders for the film. Hemsworth had previously voiced Optimus in Transformers One.

Since it's still under production, plot details or the premise of the film are unknown for now but it will probably focus on Anthony Ramos' Noah Diaz and a newly formed alliance between Autobots and G.I. Joe. The film has received a release window for 2025 or 2026, the latter being more realistic as the film is still undergoing development.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who is set to produce the film has given fans an update in 2024 via Screen Rant as he talked about what to expect from the project, saying:

"Live-action we are going to deliver a G.I. Joe crossover. I hesitate using the word crossover because I think people think different things about what that means. For me, what it means is the Joes are going to be in the Transformers world and be present."

He further adds:

"I think every movie is sort of a balancing act of 'How much do you have this? And in this movie, how funny can we be? How serious? How do you cross that line? How do you hide the villain?' All those sort of balancing things that you're doing. We're still in the early process, in a way, of trying to figure out the balance."

What are the events in the Transformers & G.I. Joe Crossover Movie?

It's possible that the Transformers & G.I. Joe Crossover Movie will take place after the events of the previous Transformers films. The conclusion of Transformers: The Last Knight hinted at a Quintessa and Unicron sequel. The crossover, which is set after The Last Knight and rewrites the timeline, could connect these two stories looking at Unicron's role in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

However, it's also possible that the Transformers & G.I. Joe Crossover Movie is a stand-alone crossover adventure with no connection to any previous films. All these situations seem plausible and no matter which road the film takes, it is bound to be a thrilling hit.

The film was teased in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, when a mysterious agent interviewed Transformers' protagonist Noah for a security position and gave him a business card that had the G.I. Joe sign on it. This started off the crossover that will be explored in the film, the plot details of which are blurry and speculative for now.
