Tom Holland has confirmed that The Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially getting its Spider-Man 4. He added that filming will begin in the summer of 2025. Holland finally confirmed the sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, stating unequivocally,

“Next summer we start shooting. Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there. It’s super exciting. Yeah, I can’t wait.”

Although various figures at Marvel Studios have been discussing a possible fourth Spider-Man film for some time now, this is the first official word that it is coming. On October 25, 2024, Sony confirmed that the fourth Holland Spider-Man film will be released on July 24, 2026.

Daniel Destin Cretton will direct Spider-Man 4. He will start shooting the movie next year, which will be busy for him. He might also be shooting Christopher Nolan's next film and possibly Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday.

When will Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 release?

In addition to the latest news about Spider-Man 4, Tom Holland will star in Christopher Nolan's latest film. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are writing the script for Holland's fourth film. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal will oversee the production.

Tom Holland will reprise Spider-Man when the character returns to theaters on July 24, 2026.

Everything to know about Spider-Man 4?

It will be interesting to see what the story of Spider-Man 4 will be. The third installment, No Way Home, ended with the world forgetting that the teenage Peter Parker was Spider-Man; even MJ had no recall of who Peter was.

Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon have appeared in all three Spider-Man films: Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Variety confirmed in September that Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, would take over the franchise from Watts, who will direct the sequel.

Cretton's credits include Short Term 12, The Glass Castle, and Just Mercy. Cretton was originally set to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty but left the film in November 2023, and it was later rebooted as Avengers: Doomsday. Cretton remains in the Marvel family, co-writing a new Wonder Man miniseries with Yahya Abdul Mateen II. Cretton has also been working on a Shang-Chi sequel, but according to an insider close to the production, the fourth installment of Spider-Man is currently the studio's priority.

Who will be the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man 4 movie?

There is no information about the cast of the fourth installment of Spider-Man. The film Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with Peter Parker isolated as his friends MJ and Ned forgot about him because of Doctor Strange's spell.

According to the latest update, Tom Holland will star in Spider-Man 4.

Tom Rothman, head of Sony, had previously mentioned that he hoped to start working on the next Spider-Man film with the whole group. Considering the term “whole group,” we can rest assured that Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon’s trio will be returning for Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with a cliffhanger, and MJ and Peter's friends completely forgot about Peter's identity. If the three return to Spider-Man 4, then the fourth installment of the show may pick up where the third part left off.

Likely, the original trio will undoubtedly have to reverse the Doctor Strange spell or prove the memories were erased. Multiverse events in other Avengers movies will probably bring it about. This will give more isolation to Spider-Man, allowing room for a film centered on Holland's Peter Parker as he grows up as a hero.
