"I started my career on a stage, of course, doing sketch and improv in Chicago, and no matter how established you are or how old you are, when you peek out from behind the curtain it’s like you’re a little kid again."
Poehler continued:
"Also, New York audiences are not easy, they’re not as impressed that you made it to your town. They’re like, “My next door neighbor is Patti LuPone so you better bring it.”
In an earlier exclusive interview with Hollywood Reporter on June 20, 2023, Poehler talked about the audience of the shows, stating:
"Tina and I have done so many shows over the years where people haven’t necessarily paid to come see us. We just happened to be there. Poehler continued:
"-ask on their way in, and we’ve learned a lot about our audience and what they’re thinking. They’re really funny, too. During the tour, Tina and I have also partied really hard during the day and gone to Bloomingdale’s or Macy’s. We keep seeing people who came to the show the night before or who are going that night. So, I guess we’re all doing the same stuff."
