Thunderbolts: Release Date
Thunderbolts is hitting theatres on May 2, 2025. It will be the MCU's first villain team-up movie in life. Marvel readers and enthusiasts were already excited about the film's concept even before its official announcement.
The movie announced its director in 2022, and Black Widow's Eric Pearson was reached out to write the film. The release dates have been moved more than once - from July 2024 to December 2024 and from July 2025 to May.
Thunderbolts: Plot
The film is about supervillains from all the prequels teaming up to join the US government force to accomplish some top-secret missions. The movie is set to end the MCU's Phase 5 and set up Phase 6 with some remarkable changes in the Universe. Therefore, the film holds an important position.
The trailer shows the team coming and grouping under Valentina's direction – along with newcomer Bob, who may or may not be Sentry as they attack the Thunderbolts. Not much can be dug into the plot before the film's release, as it is still a mystery.
Thunderbolts: Cast
Many cast members of Thunderbolts were finalized during the D23 Expo in 2022, including Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes. Since most of the cast members are drawn from the existing MCU movies, there is a possibility of featuring new characters from other shows and movies.
Here is the list of the spectacular cast from Thunderbolts:
- Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova
- Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes
- Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff
- Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov / Taskmaster
- David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian
- Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine
- Lewis Pullman...Robert Reynolds / Sentry

Thunderbolts is set in the aftermath of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and is the 36th film of MCU. In the recent controversy, Marvel was accused of using AI for its poster. However, that turned out to be false.
The movie maker, during Comic-con 2024, was asked about the asterisks in the title, to which they refused to answer precisely and chose to keep it a mystery till the final release of the film.
"We won't talk anymore about that until after the movie comes out," Kevin Feige teased at CinemaCon 2024.
