Thunderbolts* is about to hit the theaters and the MCU fans must be excited to see this group of anti-heroes team up on the big screen. This is the first time in so long in this universe that a bunch of new faces are appearing in such a team-up. So, it might be giving the fans that "old MCU feeling" when Avengers hit theaters. That newness is one of the factors of its appeal. However, there might be more in store for them in this latest movie.

A few online sources, including Screenrant and The Direct, have reported that Thunderbolts* will be rated PG-13 with 'strong violence'. After 17 years an MCU movie has done so.

Here's what the detailed CARA (The Classifications and Ratings Administration) rating says:

"Rated PG-13 for strong violence, language, thematic elements, and some suggestive and drug references."

In the MCU's history, there must have been other PG-13 movies that offered that extra punch, but there have reportedly never been any movies with this rating along with the later 'strong violence' remark since its pioneering project in 2008, Iron Man.

While the ardent fans may already know about this detail, many casual moviegoers may not have a hint of it. This rating revelation promises something special that fans have reportedly been craving for.

What's the big deal with PG-13 with a 'strong violence' rating for Thunderbolts*?

Jon Favreau's Iron Man came out in 2008 and Thunderbolts* will arrive almost 17 years later. So, the fans who were barely teenagers when it was released must be adults now, who want to have the same level of fun but in a mature fashion. They might be more interested in more gruesome action scenes and the use of language without any barriers. The new movie offers some of those things.

It is releasing a year after Deadpool & Wolverine, which became one of the highest-grossing movies of the year, even if it was R-rated. That might have made the fans crave a similar experience.

The use of strong violence might satisfy adrenaline junkies, who might be bored by the same-old ways that fight scenes are often portrayed. This new movie will offer that along with a closer look into the psychological journeys of its characters and will reportedly feature practical action scenes.

That seems like just the kind of entertaining cocktail that MCU fans might be interested in. Unlike more innocent offerings from the studio, this looks like a more raucous offering. That's why its rating might be a big deal for MCU fans.
