Amy Adams returns to the big screen with a quirky new role in her upcoming movie Nightbitch. The production hub Screenlight recently dropped the long-awaited trailer for Adams’s movie which has been in the works since 2022 per Collider.

The movie is an adaptation of the book bearing the same name penned by acclaimed novelist Rachel Yoder. Since the trailer’s release, fans appear to have mixed feelings about the alleged horror movie that reportedly perplexed them.

Viewers took to the comment section of the production hub from where the trailer was released and discussed the trailer taking a crazy turn. As mentioned, several viewers expected it to be a classic horror movie as heavily emphasized in Yoder’s book.

A critic comments on the aforementioned essence claiming they weren’t expecting a comedy. Another one connotes the differences between the book and the movie claiming there was “misrepresentation.” The viewer said,

“This trailer has such a weird vibe. The book had a much darker tone and was really interesting.”

The person continued,

“Either the trailer has really misrepresented the film or the film has missed the mark completely.”

This comment prompted an array of responses from readers and potential fans of the upcoming movie. While some agreed with the latter of the book being interesting, stating comments like,

“Yes, I was a bit taken aback too with this comedy vibe ‘cause I love the dark tone of the book.”

Others had optimistic opinions about it and remarked,

“Never know until ya see it. That’s how I say it to myself."

Likewise, there were a plethora of mixed arguments about the movie being a hit or a miss. However, many seemed excited to see Adams star in a new movie after a while.

Fans think Nightbitch could win Amy Adams an Oscar

Despite her remarkable performance as an actress in movies such as Man of Steel, Leap Year, and Arrival, Adams hasn’t yet bagged an Oscar. Since Nightbitch’s trailer was released, fans have a reason to believe this could be it for her. A hopeful fan said,

“I hope Amy wins the Oscar for this movie. Her acting looks amazing, it reminds me of Michelle Yeoh’s acting in Everything Everywhere All At Once.”

Another one chimed saying,

“I am…so stoked and I hope this is the role that finally lands her an Oscar.”

A final one affirmatively states,

“That looks like an Oscar nomination for her again.”

Several others believe that even if she doesn’t win the award itself, there’s a high probability that she’d at least be nominated for her role in the movie.

The new trailer of Nightbitch is giving a lot of different things, claim critics

Nightbitch certainly did take some time for the production of the movie - two years. Many were curious about the producer’s rendition of Yonder’s book. However, their questions were quenched since the release of the trailer.

Several fans expressed their thoughts about the movie giving different vibes. The majority thought it gave an “adult version of The Shaggy Dog.” About the trailer, one critic claimed,

“This looks and feels more like a Netflix series than a film. It’s giving Santa Clarita Diet.”

Likewise, another one recalled a particular dialogue said by Adams in the trailer stating,

“This line gives me Morbin time vibes…”

Several others chimed in agreement about the subtle reference made to the Morbius movie.

While fans momentarily seem to have mixed reactions about the movie, all will be put to rest when Nightbitch releases later this year on December 6, 2024.
