The Accountant 2 has finally hit the theaters and, as always, the film might elicit all sorts of reactions, critical or complimentary. However, lead actor Ben Affleck might have gotten used to it, per his recent comments on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Affleck shared his experience of attending the movie premiere with his kids and their friends. Well, it's fair to say that it was not all sunshine and rainbows. He reveals how his kids do not hold back on criticism even when their dad is on the screen. So he recalls that it was "a little scary" for him. He said:

"My kids, they all came with their friends. I was excited that they wanted to come to see it, but my kids, they're like very tough and they don't censor their criticisms. So, they'll sit right next to me watching a movie, and [they'll say] while it's happening: 'This is terrible, I mean, this is terrible. Why would you do this?' [Well], you can wait till it ends."

The star said his kids liked The Accountant 2, but he had a funny way to express their praise.

"They said it was good and they were shocked as if like I got lucky. This magical accident happened and something I did was okay."

Ben Affleck reveals that his kids make their criticism of a film clear immediately and don't wait till it ends. He spoke further about his experience during the pandemic, when everyone was locked in their homes for a long time. At the time, he watched many films with his kids, some of them starring him. He recalls how his kids were particularly critical of his 1998 film, Armageddon. Affleck recalled:

"During COVID, all the kids were at the house and I was like 'Let's watch a movie.' And I thought 'The kids will like it Armageddon.' And almost immediately, it was like ‘What? This is so stupid. Are you kidding me?’ My son is like, ‘This doesn’t make sense.’ I was like, ‘This is not a logic-based film. That is not one of the criteria we used making this.’”

The Accountant 2 star mentions a criticism often brought up against Armageddon co-starring Bruce Willis and Liv Tyler. Directed by the Transformers director Michael Bay, this 1998 sci-fi action flick followed a bunch of oil drillers who get pulled into an ambitious mission to save the Earth from an impending asteroid attack.

While the critics were not kind toward the movie, The Accountant 2 star was reportedly also critical of its central premise about oil drillers being trained as astronauts, instead of the other way around. Despite these qualms, the movie was a commercial success and is still one of Affleck's more popular works.

After speaking about his kids' reactions to The Accountant 2, Ben Affleck shed light on his own childhood and how he used to look at movies at the time. He recounts going to watch the Star Wars movies by himself when he was barely six or seven. He also remembers loving Back to the Future so much that he considered it "the best movie" ever.

A few decades later, Affleck stars in the sequel of his 2016 action thriller, The Accountant, which had received mixed reviews but was commercially successful. The Accountant 2 brings him back as the titular character, who embarks on a mission to solve a murder mystery with his estranged brother. The film is now available to watch in cinemas across the United States.
