(3) Alex Strangelove (2018)
Alex Strangelove is a rom-com that managed to become a cut above the rest in this genre. This Craig Johnson-written and directed feature is about a high school student named Alex who wants to lose his virginity. However, he starts to question his orientation after meeting a guy named Elliot. The film has been streaming on Netflix since June 8, 2018, and is a breezy watch.
(4) Love, Guaranteed (2020)
Love, Guaranteed is a light-hearted film directed by Mark Steven Johnson about Susan Whitaker (played by Rachael Leigh Cook), an attorney. She takes on the case of Nick Evans (Damon Wayans Jr.), who is associated with a dating website. Slowly, their love blossoms and makes for an interesting watch as it resonates with a lot of modern couples.
(5) Our Souls at Night (2017)
Our Souls at Night is an official adaptation of the namesake novel by Kent Haruf. Directed by Ritesh Batra, the film stars Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. Both have lost their partners in the film and are each other's neighbors. After many years, the two start a relationship. Redford has also produced the film along with Erin Simms and Finola Dwyer. The film feels like a warm hug at times, and it should be an essential watch for people looking for a tear-jerker on Valentine's Day.
