Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock is an icon in revolutionizing the genre of horror since it portrayed Norman Bates as an ordinary man who becomes one of cinema's greatest villains. In Psycho, it was a psychological horror movie as opposed to horror that involved supernatural forces. There was Bates and his sick and abnormal relationship with his mother which led to such unease.
