"Then I move on" — Jenna Ortega lets her feeling be known about a reduced role in Iron Man 3 and whether she'll work with MCU

Actor Jenna Ortega recently made some revelations about her initial working stint in the movie industry. She started out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Jenna Ortega featured in the 2013 Marvel release, Iron Man 3.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jenna Ortega made the revelation during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, where she was joined by Paul Rudd, her co-actor in Death of a Unicorn.

In the interview, Ortega shed light about her experience with Marvel. When the interviewer asked her about the idea of working in a Marvel movie, Ortega revealed that she already did — in Iron Man 3.

About her experience of working in Iron Man 3, the actor revealed:

"They even took my name away. I count that, and then I move on."

Back in 2013, when Jenna Ortega was not a household name yet and was just starting out her career in the movie industry, she played a minor role in Iron Man 3, as the Vice President's daughter.

About her involvement in MCU, she told Entertainment Tonight:

"I did it once. But it was one of the first jobs I ever did. They took all my lines out. I’m in Iron Man 3 for a quick second. I take up the frame, I have one leg, and I’m the vice president’s daughter."

Paul Rudd, who was also in the interview, pointed out Marvel has a tendency of laying subtle clues around the plots of their films, which later build into a bigger plots.

He mentioned it is possible that Marvel may want to develop Ortega's character in the future MCU movies:

"But Marvel is very good at, like, kind of laying those breadcrumbs, and so it might very well be that you come back. That they are going to create something for you, 'cause they should be so lucky to have Jenna Ortega in their franchise."

Paul Rudd has had a long association with the Marvel movies, portraying Ant-Man and his alter ego Scott Lang in a series of films — Ant Man (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023).

Jenna Ortega, however, has clearly not forgotten her MCU experience. Rather, she has chosen to move on. She said:

"They even took my name away. I count that, and then I move on."

Jenna Ortega was aged 11 when she worked in Iron Man 3. The film stars actors Robert Downey Jr. as the titular superhero, with Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, and many others. Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black.

Jenna Ortega has since emerged as a global star. She has carved a niche with series and films including Jane the Virgin (2014-2019), Stuck in the Middle (2016-2018), You (2019), The Fallout (2021), Wednesday (2022-present), Scream (2022), Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) and Winter Spring Summer or Fall (premiered in 2024).

Jenna Ortega will next be seen in the film, Death of a Unicorn, which is scheduled to be released on March 28, 2025.
