The World Will Tremble: Release date news, cast details and more the upcoming true story drama adaptation

Lior Geller's much-anticipated historical drama The World Will Tremble will have a theatrical release this week in the United States. The film is based on true incidents from World War II, centering on the infamous Chelmno extermination camp and the disturbing incidents surrounding it.

The 109-minute-long movie had its early screenings at the Miami Jewish Film Festival that was held back in January 2025, and the theatrical distribution is being overseen by Vertical. The World Will Tremble is Geller's brainchild. It took years of research alongside historians to achieve what the plot requires.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Jeremy Neumark Jones are among the lead cast members, with a screenplay by the helmer, Lior Geller himself. The official synopsis of The World Will Tremble, per IMDb, reads:

"The incredible, untold true story of how a group of prisoners attempt a seemingly impossible escape from the first Nazi death camp in order to provide the first eyewitness account of the Holocaust."

When will The World Will Tremble be released?

The World Will Tremble will hit US theatres on March 14, 2025, and so far, there is no news of an OTT or VOD release. Production reportedly wrapped in February 2025, and a release window with a short gap was eventually set. Black Sheep Films has produced The World Will Tremble in association with Radiancy Pictures, UFO Films, and Lorton Entertainment.

The World Will Tremble is a direct inspiration from a true story that dates back to the Second World War and will reportedly explore the atrocities inside the first death camp at Chelmno set up by the Nazis. At the core of the story, we have a group of desperate, helpless captives who do their best to escape from the death camp.

The prisoners try to escape the clutches of the Nazis and narrate the entire world about the cruelties of the Holocaust - what kind of physical and mental damage it caused to the victims. The World Will Tremble will reportedly portray the true story in its actual form, and director Geller has dedicated quite some time to his research on the subject under the guidance of a notable scholar from Yad Vashem Memorial Institute.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen will lead the cast of The World Will Tremble in the role of Solomon Wiener, one of the death camp survivors who managed to flee Chelmno. Alongside him, we have co-star Jeremy Neumark Jones playing the part of Michael Podchlebnik (another Holocaust survivor).
