The Weeknd first talked about this upcoming tour as well as the new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, which was released on January 31, 2025, back in December 2024, particularly at Spotify's Billions Club in Los Angeles, California, on December 17, 2024, stating:

"2024 is almost done but 2025 we've got some new sh*t coming up. New album, new tour, new movie, new everything. We're shutting this sh*t down."

This was followed by The Weeknd's X post on December 19, 2024, which further confirmed his plans for 2025:

The Weeknd's new album features a total of 22 tracks running to a length of 84:39 tracks. The album features guest appearances by Lana Del Rey and Florence Welch, as well as Anitta, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, and Future. The album also has a bonus tracks edition with two extra tracks.
