The Strangers Chapter 2 is another entry in the ever-growing The Strangers franchise. The upcoming horror film is the directorial work of Renny Harlin and it's written by Alan Freedland and Alan R. Cohen.

The Strangers Chapter 2 is the fourth installment in the overall horror franchise and a sequel to a fresh trilogy that started with the 2024 film The Strangers: Chapter 1. It will be released sometime in 2025. The official synopsis of the film reads,

"On their way to their honeymoon, a couple's vehicle breaks down, forcing them to take refuge in a remote Airbnb. As night falls, three masked strangers terrorize them until dawn."

What is the plot of The Strangers Chapter 2?

The Strangers Chapter 2 follows a couple who is going to enjoy their honeymoon. However, their vehicle breaks down and there is no place for them to rest in the remote area. With no option around them, the duo has to spend their night at an Airbnb. As the franchise is known for its masked intruders, three people wearing masks enter their vicinity and start terrorizing them.

The makers have been working on all three films in the trilogy at the same time. Its shooting took place between September and November 2022 over the course of 52 days. The film was originally supposed to release in 2024 but its release date was pushed to 2025 to an undisclosed date.

Who is in the cast of The Strangers Chapter 2?

Madelaine Petsch is playing the role of Maya Lucas in the film. She is known for her role in The CW's show Riverdale along with films like The Hive, Jane, and About Fate. She had also played this role in the previous installment and is expected to return in Chapter 2.

The previous installment was released in 2024 and ended up becoming a commercial success despite negative reviews.

In an interview with Slug Magazine, Renny Harlin spoke about directing the horror film. He said,

“I think horror films are really a genre that, when it works, it’s great to see in the movie theater, in the presence of other people, and hear those gasps, screams, and little laughs, and have that cathartic experience together.”

He further added on the relatability of these stories.

"In The Strangers: Chapter 1, a very ordinary young couple hits the road only to find themselves caught inside a nightmare scenario. I think the key is for the audience to be able to relate to these situations and feel ‘I could be there. That could be me."

Lionsgate will be releasing The Strangers Chapter 2 sometime in 2025.
