Golden Lion-winning director and a brainchild of the body horror genre, David Cronenberg, will soon be back on the big screens with his upcoming horror drama film The Shrouds. Cronenberg will lead an ensemble cast comprising Vincent Cassel, Dianne Cruger, and Guy Pearce for his latest horror project.
Starting off with a select theatrical release on April 18, 2025 in both Los Angeles as well as New York, the movie will eventually head towards a wider release across the United States on April 25. Cronenberg is at the helm of the project as writer cum director in association with Saint Laurent Productions alongside Prospero Pictures and SBS International.
The story revolves around a distinguished businessman named Karsh (portrayed by Vincent Cassel) who has recently been stuck with grief by the untimely loss of his wife. Karsh's misery drives him to invent a technological masterpiece that only invites further danger. The official synopsis of The Shrouds, per IMDb, reads:
"Karsh, an innovative businessman and grieving widower, builds a device to connect with the dead inside a burial shroud."
When will The Shrouds be released?

What initially was supposed to be a Netflix horror series eventually took the form of a 119-minute-long drama film. The Shrouds also garnered quite some public attention owing to one of its early screenings in September 2024 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
