Morrissey recently took to his official blog to slam the Wikipedia listing of members for the bands The Nosebleeds and Slaughter And The Dogs, dismissing the page's claim that he had been a member of the bands. The singer went on to state that he did not believe Wikipedia would correct its mistake:
"Wikipedia confidently list me as an ex-member of Slaughter And The Dogs, and an ex-member of The Nosebleeds. I did not ever join The Nosebleeds and I have no connection whatsoever with Slaughter And The Dogs. Is there anyone at Wikipedia intelligent enough to set the record straight? Probably not."
According to Wikipedia, the band The Nosebleeds consists of Billy Duffy, Vini Reilly, Toby Toman, and Morrissey. Billy Duffy is an Irish musician and is primarily known as the guitarist of the Cult. The guitarist was present throughout the Cult's original years from 1981 to 1994 and their reunion years later in the decade.
Vini Reilly is an English musician. He is known for being the guitarist of The Duratti Column, a post-punk rock album. The band has released more than twenty studio albums. Among these, the best-known albums are The Return of the Durutti Column, LC, Another Setting, and Without Mercy.
The last member of the Nosebleeds is Philip Tomanov, aka Toby Toman. Toman is a drummer who played with bands such as The Durutti Column, Blue Orchids, and Primal Scream. It also mentions Ed Banger and Pete Crookes as ex-members of the band.
Morrissey absent from Slaughter And The Dogs band members' list
The Wikipedia page for the Slaughter And The Dogs band does not currently list the singer as an ex-member of the band. The band members list consists of Mick Rossi, a rhythm guitarist, Howard Bates, a bassist, lead guitarist Mike Day, and singer Wayne Barrett-McGrath.
The ex-members list of the band consists of Nigel Mead, Noel Kay, Jean Pierre Thollet, Martin Pelletier, and Eddie Garrity, among others.
Morrissey was first mentioned as working with The Nosebleeds in the 1992 book Morrissey & Marr: The Severed Alliance by Johnny Rogan. In the book, Stephen Pomnfret, a friend of the singer says that he worked with The Nosebleeds. The section is here quoted via Stereogum's article on the matter on December 1, 24:
"I tried to persuade Morrissey to buy some equipment because we were spending a fortune on guitars and amplifiers. He bought a microphone for £8. I thought, ‘That’s not quite what I had in mind, Steven!’ He said, ‘That’s all I can afford!’”
The singer refuted the claim of being involved with The Nosebleeds in his 2013 Autobiography, stating:
"History had trapped me for a long time, and now it must let me go. But my time with Billy is already over. He has been lassoed into joining the excellent Theatre of Hate who are ready for Top of the Pops, and rather than bury my face in the mud I am happy for him."
Morrissey is best known as a member of the band The Smiths, alongside Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke, and Mike Joyce. The singer has a prolific solo career, with 13 studio albums, one released project, and one coming album.
