Osgood Perkins' The Monkey has become the new talk of the town. It has received love from the critics and the audience alike, evident from its fresh ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. This film comes just a year after Perkins' Longlegs, starring Maika Monroe and Nicholas Cage in a terrifying avatar. However, unlike Longlegs, it is funnier even when it explores the matters of life and death.

Before heading to the cinemas, some viewers might want to know whether the film features any scenes after its credits start rolling. Well, it doesn't have any post-credit scenes related to the events of the film. However, it does include a scene after the credits end. That post-credit scene reportedly teases the audience with a snippet from director Osgood Perkins' upcoming film, Keeper.

The credits after the new Osgood Perkins film end with a piece of music, which foreshadows death throughout the film. However, instead of showing a toy-led massacre, the post-credit scene reportedly offers a glimpse of Osgood Perkins's upcoming project titled Keeper.

The snippet shows a group of women busy in mundane activities. They suddenly break the fourth wall. Some of them cover their mouths, expecting us to be silent. It acts as a silence before the storm since the women suddenly start screaming - some of them covered in blood. As it happens, a voiceover says "This place isn't right for me". In the end, the clip teases the viewers for 'a dark trip'.

Keeper is Osgood Perkins' upcoming horror project, which also stars Tatiana Maslany. When speaking about her second collaboration with Perkins Maslany told GamesRadar+,

"These three movies (Longlegs, The Monkey, Keeper) that have just come or, you know, coming out in such a short span of time are all so incredibly different. The size of them is different, the tone is different, and the story is very different. But there are themes that recur in terms of, like, inherited trauma and the unknowability of death, and facing death in incomprehensible ways."

Keeper's synopsis, per Deadline, reads:

"Keeper follows a couple as they escape for a romantic anniversary weekend at a secluded cabin. When Malcolm (Rossif Sutherland) suddenly returns to the city, Liz (Tatiana Maslany) finds herself isolated and in the presence of an unspeakable evil that unveils the cabin’s horrifying secrets."

While speaking about filming Keeper, director Osgood Perkins said,

“We did [Keeper] fast and on the fly. We did it with a lot of trust and good faith. It’s an intimate, small, weird movie with, essentially, two characters. We wrapped that movie on a Friday, and on the following Monday, we were in the offices of The Monkey.”

After The Monkey ends, the credits roll, leading to a scene in the end unrelated to the film. So, the film doesn't feature an additional scene that sets it up for a sequel. However, some might argue that the film's ending leaves room for a potential follow-up project. If you don't remember the final moments of this horror comedy film, let's do a brief recap.

Toward the end of The Monkey, Bill forces the toy monkey to play its drums to kill Hal. Instead, it triggers deaths across the town. Eventually, Bill falls into his own trap and dies. Even then, Hal survives. So, he and his son Petey leave with the toy monkey. By doing so, they hope no one else gets their hands on this cursed toy.

The film uses this toy to highlight the unpredictable nature of death. So, someone else, who knows about the toy's powers, might want to get their hands on it, leading to more unwarranted loss. A potential sequel can follow this storyline as Hal and Petey try to retrieve the toy.

On the other hand, a follow-up project can explore the past of Hal & Bill's father, played by Severance-fame Adam Scott. A potential prequel can answer how the father got his hands on this toy and explore his motivations. Such a project can satisfy the viewers who might have been disappointed with Adam Scott's brief appearance in the film.
